Have you ever wondered how people discovered planets like Mars?
Well about 450 years ago an astronomer named Nicolaus Copernicus studied the solar system. And after that other astronomers used tools and found out that Nicolaus studies were correct.
Mar's Name
About 3,000 years ago Babylonias mentioned Mars in recordings that they had kept. Mars got it's name after the Roman god of war because it symbolizes fire, blood, war, death and disease. Mars was also associating with the blood red color it had. Did you also know that when coming up with the name the Roman gods associated with Greek Ares. Roman gods are ancient for the name mars.
What Mars Is Made Of
Did you know that every once and a while waters seep up in places? Also water that seeps up can freeze and form ice beneath the dusty surface. Under harsh conditions liquid on the surface could freeze quickly and vaporize. It has been proved with real evidence that in the past the planet Mars has seemed to have been more earth-like, for example a warmer surface temp. And also layers of gases make the planet not very dense.
A Description of Mars
Did you know Mars has several giant volcanoes? And it also has 1 canyon that has a larger width than the U.S. Another fact is Mars is like a frozen dessert that is rocky as well. Did you also know that Mars has 2 moons!!! Isn't that cool? Also there is very little air on Mars, so it would be hard for a human to live there. It is also the second smallest planet, but it is more than 3 times as large as Mount. Everest. Isn't that weird?!
Mars has been a planet for over 3,000 years. And Mars has been changing right before our eyes!! For example new seeping waters, as well as having an earth-like temp. Think about it, if babylonias did not have recordings or mentioned Mars, we might not have seen Mars until today!!!
