- usually ingest bacteria,algae,or other protozoans
- unicellular
Plantlike Protists
- makes it's own food through photosynthesis
- referred to as algae
- some microscopic, some multicellular
Funguslike Protists
- absorbs nutrients from other organisms
- not classified as fungi
- differ from fungi by the protists cell walls
Habitats
Where they live
- found typically in damp or aquatic environments (decaying leaves, damp soil, ponds, streams, and oceans)
- some live in insects by causing disease, some live in sloths hair
- some can be used as insecticides
