Alone

Alone by (Edgar Allan Poe)

From childhood's hour I have not been

As others were; I have not seen

As others saw; I could not bring

My passions from a common spring.

From the same source I have not taken

My sorrow; I could not awaken

My heart to joy at the same tone;

And all I loved, I loved alone.

Then- in my childhood, in the dawn

Of a most stormy life- was drawn

From every depth of good and ill

The mystery which binds me still:

From the torrent, or the fountain,

From the red cliff of the mountain,

From the sun that round me rolled

In its autumn tint of gold,

From the lightning in the sky

As it passed me flying by,

From the thunder and the storm,

And the cloud that took the form

(When the rest of Heaven was blue)

Of a demon in my view.

Main idea

The meaning of the poem "Alone", is that of Poe being different, being left out, not fitting in, and the feeling of sadness. The poem is trying to tell the meaning of being different, his trying to solve the mystery of life and why he was born, and finally why his life is so different, when others are living completely normal and happy lives.

Why I choose this poem.

I choose this poem because, I really enjoy reading Poe's poems, and also because I like sad poems. I feel like sad poem connects more with me than love poems, and poems about happiness. I also like how Poe writes about his life on them, or his thoughts he is a really interesting and dark way in which he writes his poems.

"Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" by Green Day

I walk a lonely road

The only one that I have ever known

Don't know where it goes

But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street

On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams

Where the city sleeps

And I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone

I walk alone

I walk alone

I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me

My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating

Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me

'Til then I walk alone

Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah, aaah-ah,

Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah

I'm walking down the line

That divides me somewhere in my mind

On the border line

Of the edge and where I walk alone

Read between the lines

What's beep up and everything's alright

Check my vital signs

To know I'm still alive and I walk alone

I walk alone

I walk alone

I walk alone

I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me

My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating

Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me

'Til then I walk alone

Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah, aaah-ah

Ah-ah, ah-ah

I walk alone

I walk a...

I walk this empty street

On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams

Where the city sleeps

And I'm the only one and I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me

My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating

Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me

'Til then I walk alone...

Connection between song and poem.

The connection between both the song and poem is that they both are expressing loneliness . They also express hope for a better tomorrow. They both use the weather to tell the listener how they feel. They both are sad but beautifull.

My poem inspired by -Edgar Allan Poe

Fear is black like night. Dark poisons your soul and waits for your to fall.

It feels deep like hosting despair. You have nothing, you Are nobody.

It tears out looking for your happiness. Thus happiness will soon be taken from you. Fear is black like night. hold to your memories if you do not want to lose them to the eternal darkness.
