A Real Example...
Question Card Activity 1
Partner Reading
- 1st student is reader, 2nd student is coach.
- Switch, 1st student is coach, 2nd student is reader. Begin reading where 1st reader started.
- One point for each sentence.
Question Card Activity 2
Paragraph Shrinking
- 1st Reader reads. Coach says:
- 1. Name the most important who or what.
- 2. Tell the most important thing about the who or what.
- 3. Say the main idea in 10 words or less.
- One point for each step.
- 2nd Reader reads. Coach says:
- 1. Name the most important who or what.
- 2. Tell the most important thing about the who or what.
- 3. Say the main idea in 10 words or less.
- One point for each step.
Question Activity 3
Retell
- 2nd Reader retells. 1st Reader asks:
- 1. What happened first?
- 2. What happened next?
- 3. Continue asking what happened next.
- The goal is to earn 10 points.

Prediction Relay
- Coach asks 1st Reader:
- 1. What do you predict will happen next?
- 2. Read half a page.
- 3. Did the prediction come true?
- One point for each question.
- Coach asks the 2nd Reader:
- 1. What do you predict will happen next?
- 2. Read half a page.
- 3. Did the prediction come true?
- One point for each question.
