Skaggs Elementary Newsletter
April 8, 2021
Note from the Principal
Good afternoon!
We hope that you had a chance to rejuvenate over the long weekend. Fourth grade students took their writing STAAR test this week, and it sure was a treat for us to see our remote students on campus. They have grown and matured so much! Seeing them in person was just a different experience. We're looking forward to the day all our Stars can be back in the building.
Thank you,
Karen Lee & Christy James
Community Circles / Morning Circles
Skaggs teachers facilitate a minimum of two classroom community circles per week. These circles may vary in topic and are used to develop and cultivate relationships while building community. Circle topics can be personal, academic-related, or may involve more formal restorative practices such as when the participants focus on repairing harm and restoring relationships. In the latter case, this would involve those responsible for and those affected by a particular incident in solving a problem. Community circles provide a safe, supportive space where all voices in the classroom can be heard and members can talk about sensitive topics, work through differences, and build consensus.
Students:
- Community/Morning Circles
- Guidance classes(district curriculum) by Mrs. Carranza
- Social Group Lunch Bunch
