Welcome to 5th grade!

Blast off into a brand new year of learning!

Dream big and dig deeper!

Journey with me through a universe of new and exciting adventures in 5th grade! We will be studying American History and learning about how our country was founded going all the way back to the 1500s up through the formation of our government. In math we will start with place value and decimals and will also learn about everything from geometry to fractions (my favorite!). We will be reading about all kinds of subjects in many different genres and writing all kinds of stories and essays. Science is going to be a new focus this year, with many new topics to learn about and experiments to do!

Read! Write! Learn! Explore! Create! Imagine! Dream!

Is 5th grade hard?

Yes! Of course! We will work together as a community to grow and learn this year.

Do we have to work hard?

Absolutely! Hard work is the key to success. As long as you work hard and give me your best, I promise you'll be successful in my classroom.

Will there be homework in 5th grade?

Research has shown that when students practice learned skills at home, knowledge is deepened and knowledge is retained. Students are expected to read at least 100 minutes per week, and will turn in a signed reading log weekly. There will also be occasional homework and projects that will need to be completed at home.

Do we get field trips?

Yes. :)

My name is Kristine Rodriguez. This is my 9th year as a teacher and my 2nd year at Windsor Hills! I grew up in Bethany and attended Overholser, Western Oaks and PC West. I earned my Bachelor's degree at Southern Nazarene University. I've been married for over 19 years, and have 5 wonderful kiddos. My oldest daughter graduated from high school this past year, and I have 2 in high school, and 2 in middle school. As a family, we enjoy attending and serving at church, reading, playing board and card games and going on outings as a family. I'm very excited about the upcoming school year and the amazing things we are going to learn about as we grow together!!
