Cinco de Mayo

On May 5th of every year is when Cinco de Mayo is celebrated. Native Mexican and Mexican-Americans celebrate the day their ancestors defeated the French in war. In 1862 is when the France-Mexican war started and it lasted until 1867. Mexico felt proud when they defeated the french, because they defeated one of the best armies. Today Cinco de Mayo is celebrated largely in the U.S as well as in Mexico.
during Cinco de Mayo family and friend join in on a feast consisting of traditional favorites in the Mexican culture.

During Cinco de Mayo there is a lot of festivals, music, and dancing taking place throughout the day .
Today, I learned that Cinco de Mayo was not a celebration of Mexican Independence, but instead a celebration of the Mexican armies victory. I would love to celebrate Cinco de Mayo one day so i can take part in the festivals and eat the food.
