Greetings,
Last week, I mentioned a couple of ways February marks the beginning of spring (Lunar New Year and Groundhog Day). This week, I am paying attention to the Winter Olympics. I appreciate the inspirational stories behind the athletes, as well as the dedication and perseverance each athlete shows. I have been in a couple of morning meetings and enjoyed hearing students’ highlights from the Olympics. Our students have such unique and fun perspectives!
Here are a few updates for this week:
- Know a future kindergartener? All of our K-4 elementary school buildings offered a Kindergarten Kickoff event and we’re getting excited about next year. If you know a future Panther, let them know it’s not too late to visit or enroll. The priority deadline for enrollment is February 28, 2022.
- Welcome to Westwood: Tomorrow, 4th graders and their families are invited to Westwood Intermediate and Middle School to learn more about 5th grade. You won’t want to miss this chance to look around and learn more about next year, especially if you are considering in-person learning for your 5th grader.
- Face Masking: Yesterday, the school board approved changes to the Face Mask Decision-Making Guide that will be in place beginning February 25 through the end of the school year. If you missed it, see the update that went out earlier today with details. If these upcoming changes have you thinking about a transition to in-person learning, please note the deadline for communicating your request is Monday, February 14.
- Attendance: Please remember attendance is taken and recorded at the end of each day based on student attendance and engagement in the "live" sessions for the day. Additionally, students must submit work each day that shows evidence of their engagement in the asynchronous (on demand) learning experiences. If your child is absent due to illness, please be sure to call our attendance line to report this information. Attendance line: 763-600-5209
It feels like spring may be on the way. My hopeful thinking… If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me at 763-600-5057 or kfehri@district16.org. I am here to assist.
Take care!
