Roberts and ECHS Weekly Newsletter
Week of February 22nd - February 26th
A note from our Administration
Dear SKSD Alternative Education students and families,
This week has been a doozy of events, we hope that each of you was able to stay warm, dry, and safe as the weather events continued to escalate over the weekend. A full week without school was not what we planned for, but we hope that reducing the worry about school in the midst of power and internet outages was supportive to you and your students.
If there was content or assignments that were due over the week, you will still be able to submit them once school is back up, many teachers and staff were unable to collect or enter work, so there may be a slight delay, but deadlines are flexible. If you had a meeting with staff this week, we will be in communication to reschedule as soon as possible.
For other district resources like meal pickups, please check the district website for ongoing resources and options as buildings and services get up and running again. We missed you this week, and plan to be back to full operation on Monday!
Stay warm,
Brad Shreve, Lisa McIntyre, and Miranda Cryns

February is Black History Month
Here are some ways we are honoring Black History Month in Salem Keizer:
The Salem Keizer School Board adopted the Black History Month proclamation, honoring and celebrating black history month.
Superintendent Perry launched her Student Art Gallery with Black History as the central theme for this month's selections.
Later this month, McKay High School will be hosting a FREE Black History Month celebration – The Dream: A Celebration of Black History. This virtual event will feature a video presentation of student performances, re-enactments and history lessons highlighting black history. More details about this event will be shared in the coming weeks.
The week ahead:
Tuesday - Friday, February 23rd-26th: Follow your class schedule.
The times are the same as Q2, but your classes and teachers will have changed!
GED testing Wednesdays and Fridays @DTLC - Scheduled by staff
Limited In-Person Instruction Tuesdays - Fridays - Scheduled by advisors and staff
ELPA Testing is starting soon
ELPA testing is an important assessment of student progress and proficiency in the English Language. The ELPA indicates service levels, interventions, and even completion of ELD programming and is important to come in and complete.
Students who are learning English as a second language will be assessed on English Proficiency through in-person ELPA testing. Testing will take place at our State Street location, and the dates and time are being communicated out now. If you have questions, please contact Joy Clydesdale (clydesdale_joy@salkeiz.k12.or.us) for more information.
For students who are coming into our buildings for testing or LIPI
Students who are invited back to campus for academic support, LIPI, or testing have been slated for a specific time based on local health and safety rules.
Please work with your student and our staff to ensure that your student is attending on their scheduled days and times. Students who arrive early may not be able to enter the building until their allotted time.
If you student is scheduled to come in, but is not feeling well, please call us and let us know if you are keeping them home. Please reference the resource below to determine when to keep your student home:
