Pine Island Update
Friday, May 7, 2021
Dear Families,
Respectful Replies.
Think about something that you and your child disagree on (example- whether their video game time should be limited). Model having a respectful discussion about it. You might say that their brain and body are growing and that they need to run and play to stay healthy. Then, suggest a respectful response, such as, "I want to be healthy, but I love video games." Have them brainstorm other situations where people have different opinions but still speak to each other with respect.
Everyday Acts.
When you mow the lawn or clean up after your dog, you can teach your child respect for neighbors. Explain that keeping your neighborhood clean and neat makes it nice for everyone. Ask him to think of other respectful things neighbors should do. If you share an apartment laundry room, they might say that you respect neighbors time by removing your clothes when they are done so others get to use the washers and dryers.

Building Healthy Communities Parent Survey
Dear Parents,
This past year, your child’s school implemented a healthy eating and physical activity program called Building Healthy Communities. An important part of the program is an evaluation at the end of the school year. It means a lot to us to hear from the parents of the students in the schools with which we partnered. This evaluation provides our staff with the necessary feedback to make changes and improve upon our program for the next school year. It also allows us to document all of the positive outcomes of the program.
We understand that due to the school closure that some of the programing may not be complete. Please answer each of the questions to the best of your ability.
The survey should only take 2-3 minutes to complete. Just click on the following link to take the survey electronically, by June 1st, 2021.
