Blue Jay Broadcast
December 10, 2020
Dear Families,
First and foremost, I would like to say thank you to our students, parents, and community members for all of their support during these challenging times. We are so fortunate to live in a community that rallies together whenever there is a crisis. I also want to thank our amazing teachers and spectacular support staff for their hard work and dedication.
Currently, our scheduled return date is January 25th and we are certainly looking forward to the time when we are together again. However, as we move forward with virtual learning in December, we cannot stress enough the importance of student engagement in learning. Course content is progressing and it is imperative for students to keep up with their school work. Parents, please be sure to periodically check your child’s progress on the Parent Portal.
Meanwhile, we are making plans to welcome back our cohorts in the third marking period. We will be sending information regarding the details for these return groups during the last week of December. We will be hosting a Virtual Holiday Spirit Week and Holiday Food Drive sponsored by our Amnesty International Club. The School Counselors continue to meet with students to assist them through these challenging times. We are planning virtual information session that will cover everything a students and parents need to know to about scheduling. The National Honor Society continues its tradition of helping the community as members are currently sponsoring a school supply drive and our Key Club has been working with the FISH organization to assist families with Holiday gifts. Our yearbook staff is working very hard to schedule and collect photos for a spectacular publication. Finally, as of right now, our winter sports season will begin to commence. Please be sure to check our Athletics Page on our school website for ongoing information.http://www.middlesex.k12.nj.us/msd/Athletics/
In closing, I want to reiterate our gratitude for your continued support and wish you and your family good health and good spirits throughout the holiday season. I feel confident that when we all return together, it will be with a greater sense of belonging and a renewed perspective on all of the values that make Middlesex High School such a special place.
All My Best,
Ms. Dana Chibbaro, Principal
Wishing you all a warm and wonderful holiday. May you have a wonderful Hanukkah!

Attendance
Daily attendance is driven from period 1 class attendance but credit for individual courses is based on class attendance for each individual course. If a student isn’t in period 1 or is missing for half the class they may be marked absent for the day and absent from their class. Students are in danger of losing credit when they exceed 20 absences for the year in any single class.
We expect students to be on time for class and to keep their cameras on for the duration of the class. We respectfully request that all attempts are made to ensure that students have a home environment conducive to learning from 8am - 1pm so that they can fully concentrate on the instruction being provided.

B.R.I.G.H.T. - Building Relationships and Inspiring Growth and Hope Together
This program is a dynamic partnership between the Middlesex public school district and University Behavioral Healthcare (UBHC), a division of Rutgers University. The primary objective of the program is to help assure that children and adolescents will obtain needed assistance in an accessible location. They provide a range of free and confidential mental health services at the Middlesex Public Schools.
Referrals will be accepted from the student’s counselor, CST case manager, or school administrator. Teachers, school nurse and other staff members with concerns should contact the student’s counselor. Referrals may also be accepted directly from students and/or parents/guardians. The school counselor, CST member or administrator will meet with the student to discuss the referral and obtain informed parent/guardian consent concerning their interest in making a referral. They will also advise the school counselor that they are making the referral.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's counselor.
