A Note From Mrs. Mathe
Thank you to those of you that participated in our car rider survey a few weeks ago. We truly appreciate your feedback and take into consideration your concerns. Overall the feedback was very positive! We are so glad that this new system works to get our students dismissed in a safe and orderly fashion. We realized after reading some of the suggestions that you may not know as a parent some of the "behind the scenes" things that take place to make the system work. So below is a video explaining a bit about how our new system for car rider works.

PTO News
PTO Funds- THANK YOU PTO FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
This week we wanted to spread awareness of where our PTO funds are spent each year!
- Did you know that for around $10 a child, remote & in person learners have access to DreamBox to supplement their math instruction?
- If your child has ever used RAZ KIDS at Powell, your fundraising efforts (Cookie Dough, Boosterthon & Carnival) have helped fund this important app for our KDG, 1st & 2nd graders. With RAZ KIDS, our students can have books read to them, practice reading the books independently, and then take a comprehension quizzes, all on their appropriate reading level!
- Each year PTO sets aside up to $2000 per grade level to help fund enrichment activities and currently technology needs to help our students and teachers be successful. This year, we have been able to help our teachers out with webcams and wireless keyboard & mouse combos! We understand that teachers spend A LOT of their own money to help their students succeed, so we are grateful to be able to help ease that cost with yearly Teacher Allocations for their use on consumables, Teachers Pay Teachers activities, etc.
Each year our PTO budgets money for grade level field trips, Donuts with Dudes, Donuts with Divas, Jingle Jam, 3rd & 4th grade skating in PE, snacks for pajama movie days, and so much more!
As of today we say THANK YOU to the 147 Powell families and staff members who have joined PTO! There are almost 800 students at Powell and almost 75 staff members - please join our PTO or make a flat donation so we can continue to provide enrichment activities, technology, fun days, and so much more for our Panthers!

Nominations for Gifted and Talented Testing
Nominations are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January for both remote and in-person platforms, referral requests are accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or teachers.
All 2nd grade students will take the CogAT assessment in December. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child. The CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment.
