Confucianism
Confucianism is the philosophy of Confucius. It's goal was to reform society by showing the rulers how to govern it wisely. Confucius believed that the government should lead by example. He also believed that people should respect their elders, traditions, and obey their leaders.
Legalism
Legalism is the philosophy of Hanfeizi, who believed that the nature of man is evil. In order to become good, he has to be beaten down. Hanfeizi also believed in harsh ideas, such as strict laws and people forced to work on government projects, to achieve order.
Daoism
Daoism is the philosophy of Laozi, who believed that the best ruler is the one who governs the least. Tao means, "the way," and in order to attain happiness, individuals would have to practice Dao, live a simple life, and live in harmony with nature. People who follow Daoism are somewhat similar to hippies.
