Dear parents and caregivers,

Last week was a very busy one and this week was the same … Science Week, Official Opening of the Library and Undercover Area and Book Week! To say it has been exhausting is an understatement!

Last Thursday, we held a beautiful Official Blessing and Opening of the Library and Undercover Area. A number of special guests joined us including representatives from Federal and State Government, The Archdiocese of Perth, Catholic Education WA and the City of Wanneroo. It was a great opportunity to showcase our amazing school choir and for our Year Six students to host our guests and give them a tour of our wonderful facilities. A special mention to Linda Kruger, our official photographer for the occasion, on a providing us with some lovely photos capturing the morning. If you would like to read my thank you speech, please click on the link below.

Last Friday, staff participated in a professional learning day to continue working on our ‘Vision for Learning’. This session was based around student voice and what made learning enjoyable for all students from Pre-Primary to Year Six. Collating the data and comparing it to an educator's point of view was interesting and providing some great discussions. A final sessional will be held at the beginning of Term Four to conclude the process.

Monday was the beginning of Book Week with the theme ‘Read, Grow, Inspire’. As you might have gathered, if you attended the Book Week parade on Thursday, Book Week dress-up is one of my favourite days and I was thrilled to see most students dressing up as their favourite book character and taking part in the Book Week parade. Thank you to our staff and parents for allowing your imagination to flourish with the costumes you created. Also, thank you to Margaret Quirk, MLA Member for Landsdale, for donating some fantastic resources to our Library and to Hon Ayor Makur Chuot MLC Member for the North Metropolitan Region for attending the parade.

I would like to remind parents and caregivers to be mindful on what is being posted on social media. You should not be posting any images of any children other than your own on a personal social media account. I ask that if you have done this, please remove the post immediately.

Finally, another group of our Year Four students will be making their First Holy Communion over the weekend. I ask that you keep these students in your thoughts and prayers.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

God bless

Rebecca Clarke

Science Week

Thank you to Mr Harman for organising our STEM Challenge last week. There was a lot of competition in the hall over the paper plane throwing and a lot of fun was had by both staff and students.

This week all students from Kindergarten to Year Six were lucky enough to have a Scitech Incursion including, a visit from the Scitech Space Dome and workshop. Our Kindergarten to Year Three students were entertained by the ‘Day and Night Show’ and Space Dome while our Year Four to Six students enjoyed the ‘Solar System Show’ and Space Dome experience. It was wonderful to see the excitement and joy on all of the students faces as they entered the Space Dome.

A big thank you to Mr Harman for going above and beyond to organise our STEM Challenge last week and the Scitech Space Dome incursion for Science Week. Both experiences stir the curiosity and wonder and awe in our students.

This week the students enjoyed the ‘Way too Cool’ live performance. Thank you to Mrs Burgess in the library for finding a great Book Week incursion for our students. Our students have a love of reading because of all the time and effort that Mrs Burgess places on purchasing books that continue to engage our students love of reading.

Book Week Parade

Yesterday we had our annual Book Week Parade. Thank you to Zane and Ian, two of our Year Six students for leading the parade and for the positive feedback throughout the parade. To our wonderful staff thank you for dressing up, to our students, we love seeing you in a variety of characters and to our parents, for your work and preparation behind the scenes.

QCESR Principal Review

I was informed last week that there was an administration error with the QCESR Principal Review on the data end. This means that the survey that you completed is no longer able to be used for the review process. I know it’s very frustrating and we apologise for any inconvenience.
