Bus Routes: Due to new protocol provided by our bus company, there is a strong possibility that there will be 2 bus routes in the afternoon. This is a change from the past several years. In order to be equitable, students will be divided between the early and late return on alternating days. The 2 bus routes will be used only if needed. The early/late placements will be reversed second semester. Students who take the late bus will be at CMS until approximately 4:00pm (M,T,Th,F) and 2:35pm (W), under the care of a CUSD employee.
All students must have their bus pass in order to ride the bus. If you have not filled out a bus permission form, you must do so before your child may ride the bus.
Please see the bus schedule for more details on the routes.
CELL PHONES: As stated in the handbook, students are to keep their phones off and in their backpacks during school hours. Student cell phones will be taken and stored in the office till the end of the day, if they are seen out on campus. Please be aware that some teachers will be collecting cell phones at the beginning of the period, will then store them in a pocket chart, and will give them back at the end of the period. Also, please refrain from texting your child during the school day. You may call the office if it’s important you get a message to your child.

PE Swim Days
Dear Parents and Students,
All CMS students will swim during their Physical Education class on the following six days:
Monday, 9/16, Tuesday. 9/17, Thursday, 9/19, Monday 9/23, Tuesday, 9/24, & Friday, 9/27.
Students will be responsible for bringing their swimsuit and a towel in a plastic bag daily as there is no locker space dedicated for wet clothing.
Since we are swimming during school time, students must be modestly covered. Swimsuit requirements are as follows:
Students must wear actual swimsuits. No cotton clothing is allowed as cotton clogs the pool filters.
Boys should wear swim trunks or board shorts, Speedo or Jammers. Boys may also wear rash guards.
Girls should be adequately covered. Recommended: a one piece suit or a two piece suit and rash guard. Girls may wear board shorts over their suits.
Students may bring goggles.
Students with shoulder length or longer hair must wear it tied back or wear a swim cap.
Please label all towels!
Students will be working on Aquatic Safety Skills, improvement of basic swimming strokes, as well as cardio-vascular fitness.
The pool is fully staffed with plenty of Red Cross Certified Lifeguards on deck and Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructors.
Students unable to swim due to illness or injury must bring a parent note to be excused. ALL missed swim days must be made up. Make up days and times and procedures will be announced.
Please let us know if you have questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
CMS PE DEPT

Information Night for 2019-2020 8th Grade East Coast Trip March 28 - April 3, 2020
Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019 at 5:00pm in the CMS library
Dear Parents and Students,
I am excited to again be leading a group of Coronado Middle School students on an exciting WorldStrides program to Williamsburg, VA, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, PA, and New York, NY. This year’s trip will take place during the 2018-2019 school year over Spring Break . On this once-in-a-lifetime adventure, students will explore our nation's most important historical sites and experience incomparable learning moments. This trip will enrich the learning experience of students, however, it is not a school activity nor a school sponsored trip.
If your child is not yet registered, there will be a trip information meeting to discuss this wonderful opportunity and provide time for you to ask questions on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 5:00 PM at CMS in the library. The trip is already half full, so if you are interested, attendance is strongly encouraged.
Sincerely,
Ananda Dejarnette
