The Dolphin Whistle

MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL LAMBERT
Dear Mariano Castro Parents,
Our annual earthquake drill was this week. The students and staff practice each year with the full operations that would take place in the event of a real earthquake. We practice the building safety checks, search and rescue, and pretend medical situations as well as blocked classrooms and routes. This is a very thorough simulation and helps staff and students to be prepared and calm in the event of a real emergency. Please talk with your child to help him or her understand the importance of taking emergency practice seriously. Your conversations in advance will also help children remain calm in a real emergency. If you would like to hear more about how we practice, it will be one of the topics at the Principal's Coffee this month on Monday, October 29th at 8:00 a.m.
Thank you to everyone who has already attended his or her arent conference! This is such an important communication opportunity. If you have not yet been able to come for your conference, please contact the office or the teacher directly to make an appointment.

Negative lunch balances
We strongly encourage you to keep your student’s lunch account balance current. Overdrawn student meal accounts have a negative impact on the District’s budget, which in turn, reduces the educational resources available to all of our students.
We have several simple payment options for you to choose from. No matter which payment option you choose, please know that negative balances must be paid as soon as possible.
Pay online at EZSCHOOLPAY.COM: Add money to your student's account.
Drop off cash or a check at the school office: Checks should be made payable to MVWSD Food and Nutrition. Please include your child’s name and student ID number.
After paying your outstanding balance, we encourage you to create a “safety net” for your child. Pre-paying for your child’s meals is a simpler way of managing their account, and prevents unpaid meal charges. Paying for meals before the meal service also helps lunch lines move more quickly, giving children more time to enjoy their meal.
If your family is experiencing a financial setback, please contact us so we can help. We can assist you in applying for free or reduced price meal benefits. You may do this at any time during the school year, and must apply each year. Applications are available at your child’s school office or online at EZSCHOOLPAY.COM.
Please call MVWSD Food and Nutrition Services at 650-903-6965 if you have any questions.
