From the Desk of Mrs. Rivera
In a world where we are connected to each other in so many ways, social learning is quite possibly the most important area of a child's education. It is truly the foundation for all other learning that may come. Learning how to look someone in the eye, shake their hand appropriately and confidently, and engage in constructive, meaningful dialogue keeps our society civil and shows our children how to interact with others in our day-to-day lives. Our Classroom Greeters gain experience in this arena every time a family comes to visit our school. Classroom Greeters do just that -- they greet any visitors that come to their classroom by introducing themselves and their classroom, and giving our visitors a quick snapshot of what they are learning in class. While this job may seem simple, I can tell you that we see tremendous growth each year in students who are selected to be Classroom Greeters. Students who were once somewhat shy and inhibited are now outgoing, eager to interact with others, and are usually the first ones to involve themselves in another school initiative. This opportunity increases a student's level of responsibility, enhances public speaking skills, and builds confidence and self-esteem, which we know are crucial to a child's positive development. We are so proud of our Classroom Greeters and the job they do every day at school, and we know they leave a great impression on anyone who visits our wonderful institution of learning.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Rivera
Jolly Holiday Show-Save the Date
That's right, ladies and gentlemen! Riviera Day School is THRILLED to bring back its annual Jolly Holiday Show! Over the years, we've dressed up like the characters of the Peanuts cartoons, and we've donned costumes that represent all of the toys in the Toy Story saga. This year, we will have a musical with songs and acting in addition to performances by our chorus.

1st Grade-Smile Day
Who wouldn’t want to celebrate smiling? First grade learned about how much a simple smile can impact a person’s day. We reflected on how it feels to smile and how one simple change of movement in your face can change your whole attitude! First graders wrote letters to special people to commemorate the occasion. They also wrote to a family member about why that person makes them smile. We hope their smiles have the same effect on you!
5th Grade learned budgeting and trip planning all while practicing math skills
Kindergarten had a blast celebrating Golly Day, as they practiced the letter sound G
