First Days of School
If a mentor or mentee still need to communicate with one another, this should be done in a timely manner. Please let Trisha know if there are questions or concerns. Her email address is cavinessts@appstate.edu or her cell phone is (910) 690-1413.
Timeline of edTPA expectations the next month:
During August and September, students will complete all of Task 1 of edTPA. This includes writing the Context for Learning, preparing 3-5 lesson plans, gathering instructional materials, planning assessments, and writing the Planning Commentary.
The clinical intern is encouraged to use the Rubric Progression document to guide them as they respond to the prompts on the Planning Commentary.
Clinical interns will return to campus on Friday, September 21st for a full-day seminar. They are expected to bring all of Task 1 with them for check-off purposes. Any student who is missing a component of Task 1 at this time will automatically be put on a growth plan.
During the week of September 3rd, clinical interns will send home video release forms to be signed. They are responsible for keeping these in a safe place for at least one calendar year. Any P-12 student who does not return a signed release form (or if the parent does not give consent to be video recorded) is still expected to participate in the lessons but should be out of sight of the recording device. They are not to be sent to another classroom or ostracized as a result of not having a signed release form.
Clinical interns will teach and video record their edTPA learning segment during the week of September 24th.
The important time for clinical interns that might be considered the "most stressful" will be between September 17th and 24th. Mentors need to check-in with them to make sure they are on track and are feeling supported!
