Principal's Note...
MMES had some very special visitors this week! Through our partnership Japanese educators, a delegation visited us at MERSD this week. Japan recently mandated inclusive education for students with special needs and the concept is something that has not been a part of Japanese education before. The group visited us last year to learn about how we implement inclusion at our school and visited this year to learn about our IRWL and SAIL programs along with inclusion and our Social Emotional Learning program, RULER.
It was an amazing experience for some of our staff and students to interact teachers and researchers from another culture as they visited our district and school. If your child came home talking about some visitors to their classroom, this explains it!
Our PTO Boosterthon has been off to a great start! Students have learned this year about the character traits of zest, teamwork, citizenship, integrity, and growth mindset. The Fun Run is next Tuesday at 9:00 AM on the turf and all are welcome to come and watch! Hope to see you there!
Have a great weekend!
Best,
John
