Safety for Your Children - Front Parking Lot and Driveway
I am aware that some of you are parking in our front lot and walking your children to the foyer because you have mentioned that our back care lane takes too long. So I took to the road this week and got a bird's eye view of what is going on. I am happy to report with our addition of our safety patrol helpers between 7:15 and 7:30 the wait time from your turn onto School Street to the drop off point in the back is approximately 90 seconds. If you wait a little longer (7:35) it will take you as long as 3 minutes because we have so many walkers using our cross walk. This was amazing to watch the speed at which the lane is moving thanks to our addition of support.
So now....If you are driving to SLE it is an expectation that you use the back driveway for drop off and pickup. This is the safest place since we do not have personnel to monitor the front driveway. We ask that you never drop a child in the front parking lot or on the street. Drivers may not see them and this is a huge danger for everyone.
Our front parking lot has 84 spaces and we have a total of 77 staff and subs. This leaves limited parking for anyone visiting our building. If you need to step into the building for a conference, to drop medicine, or put money on your child's lunch account, please park in the front lot and make your visit brief especially during our peak times. We know that our parking lot is small and that this makes it a challenge for everyone. Thank you for helping us address these changes so that we will not have to block off the entire lot during these busy times.
