Here is what is coming up next week!

Writing-Our expository that the students have worked so hard on is in the final stages of revising and editing. We will be having our Author's Tea on Tuesday to celebrate their hard work.

Reading-The students have begun a unit on Poetry and will be reading poems and learning to look for the meaning within them.

Math-We finished our unit on fractions and beginning a unit that works on extending place value to the one billions place and comparing numbers within that range.

Science-We have finished up our unit on the patterns and change we see in the seasons, tides, weather, and moon phases and will be beginning a unit talking about changes in solids and liquids and understanding how the water cycle works. We are having a meteorologist guest speaker tomorrow!

Texas History-The students are beginning to look at the reason's for the Revolutionary War and what happened in the beginning.

Benchmark surprise!

So with this being that last full week before Winter break, the calendar has on it a lot of benchmarks this week. I know this is hard on them and can be very boring so I told the students that they will get a surprise to help make the benchmarks a little easier. I will be bringing gum for the students to chew on during the benchmark. If there are any allergies or you would not like your student to have gum please let me know and I will have an alternative for them.

Thanks!

Exciting News

I want to share a picture with you that I shared with your students today to let you know the exciting news. I am expecting my 3rd child this coming May! The great part is that I am due May 29th so I should only have to miss the last week or two of school. I will be sad though not to be with them on the last day! :(

When I told your students today here were some of the comments made:

"Your getting another baby!"

"So that's why your stomach is sticking out"

"You're going to miss the best week of school." (referring to the last week)
