Husky Happenings Family Edition
Week of March 21
Husky Families-
Welcome back!! I hope you had a restful and relaxing Spring Break!! Can you believe it is already Spring? The school year is flying by! As we head into the final 9 weeks of the school year, please remember it is very important that our Huskies continue to stay focused on their academics by attend tutoring when needed/assigned and turning in their assignments. As I mentioned prior to Spring Break, our Huskies are struggling academically and that we are seeing an uptick in the number of phones/technology violations on campus. Therefore, we will be starting Mandatory Tutoring for students who are failing. Teachers will be looking at their classes grades each week and assigning Mandatory tutoring for students who are failing. We will also be rolling out a NO Phones Policy starting Monday, March 29th. Huskies will be required to put their personal phones in their backpacks from 8:55 am to 4:10 pm. Students will need to use their school ipad and or provided device for instruction. At the end of the 3 weeks, we will reevaluate their grades and phone/technology offenses and consider letting the student have their phones back for the last 15 minutes of lunch. I know many of you text your student throughout the day when emergencies and or change of plans need to occur. Please know you are more than welcome to call the office and we can relay this information to your student. More information about this policy will go out later this week. Only 9 weeks to go!! We got this!!
Hugs and High Fives and as always, please reach out if you have any questions or need help.

Spring STAAR Interim
We will be conducting our Spring STAAR Interim Reading and Math Test on Friday, March 25th. There will be one test in the morning and one test in the afternoon. With that in mind, we are asking that doctor’s appointments NOT be scheduled for that day. This is the predictive measure the school will use to determine if students will be set up for HB 4545 tutoring hours in the summer. We will make a plan for them to attend tutoring on our campus for 30 hours for each STAAR subject test they do not pass with a 70%. (8th graders could potentially have 120 hours, 7th & 6th grade could have 60 hours). If students pass the STAAR in May (we will get scores in June), they will NOT have to attend the tutoring hours. The test will be paper copies of STAAR released test items, but some students will have the capability to use their iPad for specific accommodations and calculator features when taking the test. Therefore, we are urging student to submit any work tickets and/or pay fines to allow them to have a working device and charger for this day.
AIRPODS
Please make sure your student has their airpods labeled with their first and last name and that they are keeping them in their possession. We have had several pair come up missing due to students not having them labeled and or leaving them unattended.

HFMS Campus TAPR Report, Federal Report Card and School Report Card Now Available
The Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR) pull together a wide range of information on the performance of students in each school and district in Texas every year. Performance is shown disaggregated by student groups, including ethnicity and low income status. The reports also provide extensive information on school and district staff, programs, and student demographics.
The TAPRs were previously known as the Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS) Reports.
The most current report is now available on our website. If you would like a paper copy, we have them in the front office.

Husky Parents,
We want your child to be successful in school, and that means supporting and encouraging their whole development. While excelling in academic classes is important, students also need skills for learning challenges, making good decisions, handling strong emotions, and getting along with others.
This week in Advisory, students will learn about Managing Relationships and Social Conflict. Please see the attached for the lessons. Click here for lessons.
**If your child is going to be in 7th or 8th grade next year and is interested in playing tennis for a PE credit, please watch the following video.
A hard copy of your child's report card will go home this week. You can also view your child's grades online on SKYWARD.
Please encourage your child to finish out the last 9 weeks STRONG!! You can help by checking weekly on your child's grades, missing assignments, and encouraging them to attend HUSKY HELP.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Nutt & Mr. Parra
