OES Behavior Policy

Dear 5th Grade Parents,

This year we will be using a colored “clip chart” to monitor our behavior and classroom choices. Your child will have a clip that they will physically move up or down the chart, depending on their choices. Please keep in mind that your child may not move every single day! In order to move up, students must go above and beyond in their behavior choices.

Below explains how the clip chart works:

Students who reach the red level will be rewarded for their positive choices by getting a prize/treat/sticker from our classroom treasure chest or choose from the special prize binder.

Great Choice!

Students who continue to make positive choices move up to the orange level. They are one step closer to having outstanding classroom behavior and receive a “caught being good” ticket for a possible prize from Mrs. Looker. They will also get to choose a small prize from the classroom treasure chest.

Good Choice!

Students who make positive choices will receive recognition as they move up the chart; at the yellow level they get a special cheer from the class!

Ready to Learn!

Everyone starts the day on green; “Ready to Learn”! Students can “clip up” or “clip down” throughout the day depending on their behavior choices.

Slow Down!

Students who receive a warning will move to blue. This serves as a reminder to students to think about the choices they make.

Think About It!

Students who continue to make poor choices, will move to purple. This will result in a loss of 5 minutes of recess and a note in the planner about the behavior.

Parent Contact!

Students who move to pink will miss all of recess. They will also get a note in the planner or a call home about the behavior.

We believe that this system will be a positive way for students to monitor their choices and will give them behavior goals to strive for! Students will have sheet in their planner where you will see their daily behavior and will show what color they ended the day on with a note if necessary. Please initial or sign the sheet nightly.
