News from this week
It's hard to believe there is only one and a half weeks left of school! This year has definitely gone by fast! Even so, we still have done a lot of learning this week and will continue doing so until the end. On Monday and Tuesday, we will have our last DAs in English Language Arts and Math. This week in Science, we dissected owl pellets to see what they ate and what animals we would find in the owl ecosystem. The kids really enjoyed this and they found the activity both gross and fascinating at the same time. Next week in Reading, the students will be practicing and performing some Reader's Theater plays which they always find to be a fun activity. We will also preview the Civil War and do a small project on it to help them get ready for 5th grade. They will continue to have homework as usual next week.
Next week, the students will begin bringing books and notebooks that they no longer need home. Please make sure they clean their book bags out nightly so they can fit it all in each day.
Some important days are coming up to remember. 4th grade Field Day will be next Thursday, May 19 from 8:30-10:00. This year's Field Day will be different from previous years, with our class competing against other 4th grade classes in various relays. You are welcome to come out and cheer on our class. If your child purchased a Field Day shirt, please have them wear it. If not, I will have the students pick a color that everyone else can wear and will let you know. I would like to take a class picture to give to the students at the end of the year. Also, you may want to send your child with a hat and a water bottle.
As you know, our school decided to do one Awards Day for the year. The 4th grade Awards Day will be held on Tuesday, May 24rd at 12:00. A letter will be coming home if your child is receiving an award. Last, our class party will be held on Monday, May 23rd from 12:30-1:30 and we will be having ice cream sundaes.
