6th Graders Need to Get Tdap Vaccines
Parents of 6th graders, if your student has received his or her Tdap vaccine, please turn in that documentation to Mrs. Rosa, the school nurse. At this time, there are nearly 120 students who are missing this documentation. **YOU MAY NOT ATTEND 7th GRADE ANYWHERE IN THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA WITHOUT THIS VACCINE!** If your student needs to get this vaccine, please call your doctor and make an appointment immediately. If you cannot get in with your doctor, please contact the Minute Clinics, Urgent Care, or the Health Department and make an appointment with them. Southwood Academy’s main office would like to have these by the end of this school year so we can run your child’s schedule over the summer.

Spirit Week Continues: February 6th - 10th

Getting Spirited
Newsletter staff interviewed students during lunch about their spirit week plans.
*6th grade students are planning to dress up with friends, classmates, and fellow students from their arts areas. Silas Brinston is planning to dress in Southwood colors with his friends Johnny, James, and Cason. Yana, Layla, and more are planning to dress up as characters from Peppa Pig, and Sara and Thatcher are planning to be a teddy bear and a dinosaur.
*7th grade students are excited about spirit week as well! Kendall Wilbanks is planning on being a professional dancer and some are still figuring out their amazing fandom wear. Neeci Hunter and Zion Belton are also really looking forward to Fandom Friday and Camo/Neon day. They are looking forward to this opportunity to express their creativity.
*8th grade students are ready for the best and last Spirit Week of their time here at Southwood! Maggie Hunsinger is going to show off her amazing cooking skills by dressing up as Gordon Ramsey, while Strings is planning on doing a group costume for Fandom Friday! Many 8th graders are looking forward to dressing up in neon and also being retired. Spirit week is a fun way of showing support for our school, but all Arts areas are trying to go all out to win the Southwood Sword.
*Theatre currently holds the Spirit Sword. Who will earn it this year?

Anastasia February 3rd-12th
The story of Anastasia is about a young lady who has lost her memory and is trying to get it back. She is assisted by Dmitri. Vlad tries to stop her from uncovering her past of being the princess of the deceased czar. According to Nolan Rose who plays Dmitri, SAA's production isn't exactly the same as the Atlanta production because "the choreography and there are different blockings or stage directions." Nolan has really enjoyed working with the cast and crew!

Systems Projects in Algebra I
Algebra I students recently completed systems projects. Students had to pick their favorite tv show or movie and make an equation based on something that happens in that movie or show. They have to solve the equation and write a paragraph on the best wat to solve the problem. Check out their hard work and creativity!
