The 20th Anniversary
On Sunday April 6th, 2014, was the 20th anniversary of when the 100 days of slaughtering during the Rwanda Genocide began. Nearly 800,000 people within the Hutu and Tutsi culture were killed.
What Have We Done to Help?
The U.S. Does Nothing
President Bill Clinton chose not to get the United States involved with the Rwandan Genocide because of the lack of knowledge he had about it. All the president and government did to "help" with this genocide was to generate a plan to eliminate the Tutsis.
Who Raised Awareness?
- Rebels would "attempt to stop the genocide" by protesting
- The Rwandan Genocide survivors
- Other people created public service announcements and posted it to YouTube
