Shout Out
Our Weekly Shout Out goes to our very own Library Queen Deanna Bennet! We are so fortunate to have Deanna at RMS. She consistently goes out of her way to support students and staff, with a positive spirit, creativity, and a wonderful sense of humor. She is such an asset to our school. She has made a point to beautifully display the Lit Lab Book Reviews in the library. Students are so happy to see their work displayed. It is a wonderful example of authentic writing for an audience. Hopefully this will inspire kids to do even better writing the next time around! Thank you Deanna! Shout Out submitted by Tina Donisi!

TIME FOR THE UCSD SURVEY!
It’s that time of year again for the Annual UCSD Surveys. The surveys are voluntary; however, should you prefer not to participate, please click on the link and respond “No” under participation. This will allow for UCSD to know how many people have participated in and/or completed the survey.
The information collected is very helpful as an assessment of climate and culture, so if you can participate, it is much appreciated!

WEEKLY NEWS
Orenda Discovery Study Visit: The district is working with a group called Orenda to conduct discovery studies in our schools across the district to help us understanding issues of equity. They are visiting each school in the next few weeks. Our visit is this coming Wednesday, February 26th. We will have a few visitors on site from 12:30-3:30. They will meet with admin and then they will be visiting classes from 1:30-3:00. They will be spending 5-10 minutes per class in as many classes as they can visit. They prefer that we do not stop activity to address the team. Instruction should continue as normal. They are not collecting/recording any information on individual students or teachers. Please let Heather know if you have any questions.
RMS Campus Tours: Our tours will run almost every Tuesday from now until April 7th. Tours will be led by ASB students starting at 3:45 pm and should last approximately 45 minutes. Students will be walking prospective families around campus and highlighting our wonderful programs. If you are available and can have your room open, that is great! Here is the FLYER that was sent to all elementary schools.
iReady Diagnostic #2: All students at RMS need to take Diagnostic #2 so we can measure our progress toward SPSA goals. Have your students complete by February 28th.
Spring Pictures are coming! Pictures will be taken on March 19th during both lunches in the MPR. Order Forms will be sent home in February.

My Greatest Teaching Problem Was Feedback. Here’s How Research Helped Me Solve It.
Have you struggled with providing feedback for students and realized that you spent hours writing feedback that students didn't read or didn't use for growth and improvement? Elizabeth Matlick had this realization and shares her ideas in this article. She writes, "My feedback practices were unsustainable, so I began to look for alternatives. Over the next four years, I significantly changed the way I provide feedback. I implemented writing reflections to help students recall their feedback from prior assignments and collaborated with a colleague to develop a teacher guided peer review system..." Click on the article to read more about the solutions she came up to help her solve the feedback problem!
