Learning in Action

We are adventurous thinkers! As leaders of learning, we prioritize time each week to engage with our students around questions like; What are you learning? What is challenging for you? And, How has your thinking changed recently? During the most recent learning walks, children at Biltmore Preparatory Academy shared their new thinking about social change and global conflict as they explored conflict between Palestine and Israel. Children at Monte Vista described how Elizabeth Cady Stanton played a crucial role in extending voting and property rights to women. Children at Gateway discussed how water and nutrients allow their hydroponically grown lettuce and basil flourish in their tower garden. Our teachers were very thoughtful about balancing modeling, guided practice, and independent exploration to make these learning experiences possible.

Creighton Kids Congress Youth Equity Stewardship

One of the Creighton School District’s goals is to recognize, respect, and respond to the unique social identities of all people within the Creighton Community. As part of this work, Creighton Kids Congress students participated in a Youth Equity Stewardship (YES) event. As learners and leaders, they play an important role in strengthening a healthy, positive, inclusive and equity focused culture within our schools.

Youth Equity Stewardship provides a creative journey that empowers children to become passionate change agents in their school community. Youth Equity Stewardship (YES) equips students with lifelong skills that deepen relationships across differences, nurture their creative expression, and cultivate their stewardship qualities.
