6TH Grade PreAP Math Placement
Gifted and Talented Screening “Challenge”
Grades 1-4 Spring 2019
Screening for grades 1st- 4th is currently taking place throughout the Spring semester. This is a lengthy process and requires coordinating and accommodating different schedules with students, teachers and testing proctors. We appreciate your patience as we determine the correct placement for your child. Final placement results are not released until May 24th, sent via US postal mail. If you have not updated your address with the school’s registrar, please do so to ensure your results will be deliverable. Our GT facilitator is not available during the summer to address delivery concerns or results. All inquiries will be addressed at the beginning of the school year in August.
In-coming Kindergarten Fall 2019 Exact dates for the 2019-2020 school year will not be published until late August or early September 2019. Rough outline:
Mid-September Kindergarten Parent information packets are sent home.
Early October The deadline to turn in a parent checklist to the campus GT facilitator is usually around the first week of October.
October-February Kindergarten GT screening.
Early March Parents are notified by mail of GT screening results.
March-May Identified students receive 1 hour of GT services from the campus GT facilitator each week. Students will be pulled for 1 full day of services per week starting in 1st grade.
Rising 5th Graders Fall 2019 Exact dates for the 2019-2020 school year will not be published until August. 5th grade is the first grade level to screen and information about screening will be released by late August. GT testing in 5th grade is for GT services at the secondary level (junior high). If identified, students begin receiving services beginning in 6th grade.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Challenge Teacher, Ms. Mahr, at NatalieEMahr@katyisd.org.
Report Cards
Your student will bring home their final report card of the year today. Please know with construction we will not be able to make copies of any report cards at the beginning of next year. If your student’s extracurricular activities require a report card, please keep the report card in a safe space. If your student did not receive their final report card, you are welcome to pick them up at Cinco Ranch Junior High on Tuesday, May 28- Thursday, May 31.
Information from the PTA
Volunteer Information:
Volunteers of the Month
We are so pleased to honor our Volunteers of the Month for May:
· Lynn Castro - For the many hours spent organizing the end of the year party for our 5th Grade students. Peace out 5th Grade!
· Gloria Barber - For her many volunteer hours and consistency of help in our workroom all year, in spite of other volunteer commitments outside of Fielder Elementary.
Congratulations to you both, we appreciate you!!
A heartfelt thank you to ALL our Volunteers
As the end of the year is almost upon us the PTA would like to thank EVERYONE who has volunteered this year - if it was for an hour, 10 minutes, 200 hours or 800 hours! Together as a team, we have enriched the lives of the students of Fielder and supported our wonderful teaching staff and administrators. To date we have accrued over 18,549 hours just for our school, which is pretty amazing!!! Please know that you have made an impact not just for your own child, but for every child in the school!
Special thanks go to our PTA President, Beth Bishop, who has consistently dedicated herself to grow and improve the PTA function this past year. We are looking forward to seeing what 2019/20 has in store!
We can’t wait to be working with you all again next year and to welcome old and new faces. If you would like any information about how you can help out next year, please email our 2019/20 Volunteer Coordinator, Lauren Norris at VIPS@FilederPTA.org.
Have a great summer!
