Dear Parents and friends of our school Kia Ora/Bora Da/Hello
Kia ora Koutou
What a week it has been - will this rain ever stop????
Some further information re: Tuesday 15th December
- The Kapa Haka performance will be performed by our school Kapa Haka group who have been practising their Kapa Haka performance on a regular basis this year. This is a chance for them to share with the school community all that they have learnt this year. Unfortunately the rest of the school will not be watching this performance because we simply do not have enough room in the school hall for the performers, visitors and the school children.
- The burying of the time capsule will be a short presentation, weather permitting the whole school will be in attendance for this.
- The Year 8 Leavers Assembly has changed slightly and most of the leadership certificates have been given out in school assemblies this term. This assembly will involve a few short speeches, presentations to the leavers and the presentation of the school awards. This year, Years 1 to 4 will not be attending assembly unless they have a siblings in Year 8 due to overcrowding in the hall. However because we are farewelling Mrs Morrison, Room 2 will be in attendance.
We are looking to revise our End of Year Assembly format/venue in 2021 due to the limits of the size of our school hall.

BOT UPDATES
MERI KIRIHIMETE
The Toko School Board of Trustees extends its very best wishes to all staff, students and their whanau for a very Merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year. Kia pai te wa hararei. Have a good holiday.
PTA and Fundraising Committees
The Toko School Board of Trustees would like to extend its most grateful thanks to the PTA and Fundraising Committees for all the hard work and dedication that they have given to the school throughout the year. We are extremely appreciative of all the time and energy that is given so freely to the school by the members of these committees for the benefit of our tamariki. The organisation of events such as the Country Fair, Calf and Lamb Day, bbqs at rural school events, trail bike rides etc not only promote a great sense of community within our school whanau but also raise much needed funds which enable us to meet shortfalls in Ministry funding and empowers the school to provide our tamariki with resources to further enhance their educational experiences. However, after a considered review of both committees, the BOT feels that it is no longer sustainable to have two committees working independently of each other. Therefore, going forward, the BOT will look to pool the immense talent that currently exists within these committees and unite them under a new entity. Over the next two months the BOT will work to develop a guiding policy for this new entity and we will be liaising closely with the PTA and Fundraising committees during this process. There will be an opportunity for the wider school whanau to discuss this on the 1st February when we have our beginning of the year meet the teacher meetings While we appreciate that change is not easy the BOT firmly believes that collectively the committees will be stronger together and appreciate the support of all current committee members as we move forward with this process.

FROM THE SPORTS DESK
Water Day - Postponed until Monday 14th December:
The sports council will be running a water day from 11.45 - 12.45pm. All children will need to bring togs, rash vest ( if they have one)towels and sunblock for this afternoon.
The Colour Run:
Last Friday we had the colour run and we raised $170.00 and collected over 50 pantry items. Thank you to everyone who contributed and donated (this time and on our first attempt). The money and items we raised went to the food bank and we delivered them on Tuesday. The food bank was very grateful for our donations. Thank you to everyone who bought white clothes and participated in the colour run on Friday. We put lots of planning and organisation into this and we hope you all enjoyed it. Thank you to everyone who made this work and contributed to the donation. We are very happy with how this turned out.
