Principal's Update
With just a week and a half left until the Winter Break, I know many households are busy with holiday preparations. Oak Prairie has a few more tags left on "The Giving Tree," so please stop by if you are interested in helping support our D92 Community.
D92 is also offering an app through Securly for parents to monitor your child's Chromebook while they are at home. Please see the flyer with instructions for the Securly app.
Finally, I have to give a huge shoutout to our students. As you can see in our newsletter this week, they continue to shine in SO MANY WAYS! As an OP Community we should be very proud of all they have done, and continue to do this school year.

Congratulations to the OP Music Production Classes
Congratulations to the Oak Prairie Music Production Classes on their incredible representation in the Illinois Music Education Association's 2022 Composition Contest.
7th Grade composer Andrew Krumdick was awarded 2nd Place for his Lo-Fi Composition Summer Breeze Lo-Fi. Andrew recorded ambient sounds from the outdoor classroom at Oak Prairie and mixed them with MIDI sounds and beats to create a powerful reflective musical space.
The Remix Project starts out with Stems (or Samples) from a piece of music. Students then delete, chop, rearrange, create and mix to create an entirely new piece of music. This month-long project is a big part of our Music Production curriculum. 8th Grade composer Kylie Nichols received 2nd Place in the Remix Contest for her version of the 2022 State Remix piece, "One More Hour". 7th Grade composer Drew Marta received 1st Place in the State Remix Contest for his version of the remix piece, entitled "60 Minutes More".

All of these compositions took an incredible amount of time and creativity - Congratulations to all of our honorees!
