Shine Bright with Supt. Rebecca A. Jenkins
Dear D70 Families and Community:
What a year, District 70! Congratulations to our students for all their hard work and growth this year. We are so very proud of their progress and accomplishments and you should be, too!
This year has been one of my favorite years in education. The Libertyville community (that includes YOU!) is remarkable and has continued to support our students, staff, and schools in tangible and meaningful ways this year. Our staff is a step above the rest and has continued to encourage deep thinking and a love of learning this year. Together, we are an unstoppable force focused on D70 students and their futures.
But now it is time for some rest and rejuvenation. I hope you enjoy your summer as you learn and grow alongside your student!
Remember the best way you can support your child academically this summer is through reading each day and fostering a sense of curiosity. Explore new friendships, new places, and new experiences when you can, and know we are eagerly waiting for you to return!
Our district teams will be hard at work this summer preparing buildings and the finishing touches on the details and plans for the 2023-2024 school year… we have a lot of work ahead! In the fall we will be implementing our newly adopted reading curriculum, executing more of our strategic plan action steps focused on academic and personal growth, and working alongside community task forces to write a master facility plan.
Please reach out if we can be of assistance to you or your child through the summer. We will see you soon!
Shine Bright,
Rebecca

Attention Families: New Link for PowerSchool
District 70 recently made updates to PowerSchool, which for families means a new link.
Everything else about the site and functions will look the same.
The new link has been updated on the D70 website.
Please bookmark the link for future reference, or update the link. you previously made for PowerSchool. No changes are necessary for parents/guardians who access PowerSchool via the mobile app.
Lots of Professional Development This Summer
This summer we welcomed back more than 50 teachers for professional development training. We held innovation practices with Apple, training with a new data system, and ELA training with a literature and language arts curriculum we will debut in the Fall in K-8. We received an overwhelmingly positive response to these trainings!
Spark Cohorts
With a focus on creating innovative and engaging lessons, teachers can integrate technology seamlessly into their classrooms. Teachers will have access to resources and training that will enable them to transform their learning spaces and empower their students to become tech-savvy learners.

New Veteran Finance Leader Joins D70
Libertyville School District 70 Board of Education members this month unanimously approved hiring Stacey Bachar, a 28-year school finance veteran, as the district’s new assistant superintendent of finance and operations to begin on July 1.
Bachar is currently assistant superintendent of finance and operation for Aptakisic-Tripp School District 102, a position she has held for the last 16 years. Bachar will replace Mindy Bradford, who is leaving to work in another school district. Bachar will lead a five-person team in District 70.
Before Aptakisic, Bachar was the business manager and treasurer for Mundelein Elementary School District 75 for seven years. She also worked in finance for Community School District 15, Glenn Ellyn School District 41, and Lombard Elementary District 44. Bachar also spent a year with PMA Financial Network, Inc., which frequently works with public school districts on financing.
“We are excited to welcome Stacey into the District 70 family,” said District 70 Supt. Rebecca Jenkins, who worked with Bachar when Jenkins worked in Aptakistic. “Stacey has a tremendous amount of experience to make an immediate and lasting positive contribution to District 70.”
Bachar said she also is “Excited to be coming to District 70 and to be part of the District 70 family. I’m excited to get started and work with everyone”.
Bachar has a master’s degree in School Business Management from Northern Illinois and her undergraduate degree is in accounting from North Central College. In her spare time, she shows horses competitively.
