The Leander ISD Board of Trustees has scheduled a bond election for Saturday, May 6. Early voting is from April 24 to May 2.

The proposed bond — which is divided into three propositions totaling $762.82 million — includes:

  • projects to address student and staff safety at every LISD campus

  • two new elementary schools in fast-growing areas

  • repairs and updates at several campuses

  • a new facility for the LISD Special Education 18+ Transition Services Center

  • replacement of music instruments

  • renovations at the district's two Performing Arts Centers

  • and more.

The bond would not impact the LISD tax rate.

You can learn much more about the bond by watching this video and by visiting www.leanderisd.org/bond2023. Also, look for posters displayed on campus describing how the bond would affect the specific schools serving your area of the district.

Parent Input Form for Placement 2023-2024

The purpose of this form is for the school to gather parent input regarding class placement for the 2023-2024 school year. While there are many variables to consider when placing students, it is important for us to also consider parent input. With that being said, the purpose of this form is not to request a specific teacher but to better understand your child's strengths and needs so that we can place them in the best fit classroom. Due to the many variables to consider when placing students, it is not possible to assure placement in a particular classroom. PLEASE DO NOT LIST SPECIFIC TEACHER NAMES.

Factors considered when placing students:
-balance of class sizes
-balance of boy/girl
-balance of student needs
-teacher input, parent input, administrative input
-student to student relationships
-strengths of teacher
-special programs/services

Final decisions regarding class placements are made by campus administration.

Please complete the form no later than May 19th.

2023 Recreation and Camp Guide for Students & Adults with Special Needs

Some fun facts about the 2023 Summer Day Camp Guide: It contains both local and overnight camps. Many of the local camps run year run programs to support after school needs as well. As many surrounding districts work to put the list together it is alphabetized and not organized by area/location. It covers resources for Austin, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Pflugerville, Round Rock, and Lake Travis.

Communication Boards Coming Soon!

We are very excited that as part of Leander ISD's Autism Grant, we received funding to create symbol-based Communication Boards to install in our schools!

These common area communication boards benefit our students who use AAC devices, and all students and staff in our schools in so many ways, including:

- Providing all with an opportunity to communicate in environments and improve campus accessibility

- Increasing public awareness of the needs of those with disabilities

- Including students with disabilities with their peers and encourage socialization

We are working with the LISD Facilities team to create large (36" by 54") boards to mount on common area walls, including cafeterias, courtyards, and gyms. A smaller (8" by 10") will be mounted on playground equipment. The signs will be professionally made from acrylic or other suitable material. All exterior signs will be aluminum backed appropriate for exterior use.

1 sign in the Comp Gym.

1 sign in the Aux Gym.

1 sign in the Cafeteria.

1 sign in a common area. Possibly in an exterior courtyard.

1 possible additional sign near special education classrooms.

2 signs per playscape.

The boards will look something like this:
