Hand sanitizing stations will be available at all entrances and exits of the cafeteria.
Based on building capacity and student enrollment, campus administration will attempt to space tables adequately to allow social distancing.
Cafeterias will be monitored to promote social distancing practices and to reinforce the use of face coverings.
Traffic patterns will be marked with the use of posted signage and floor markings.
Masks will be required while in the cafeteria with the exception of eating.
The use of the shared microwaves will be eliminated due to the increased opportunities for food contamination
Where applicable, the salad bar will be closed due to the increased opportunities for food contamination. Boxed salads will be available on the serving line.
Breakfast and lunch options will be served by cafeteria staff to minimize student contact with food.
Students will be allowed to select individual pre-packaged food and items with the use of single use wax paper that will be provided to avoid cross-contamination.
Cafeteria tables will be thoroughly wiped down between each group with consideration for food allergies in alignment with table cleaning protocols outlined in the District’s Food Allergy Management Plan.
In addition to cleaning between classes, electrostatic spraying of all cafeteria tables and seats will occur daily.
West Cypress Hills Cafeteria
General: Students will be required to sanitize their hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer before entering the cafeteria. At this time, meal time visitors will not be permitted in school cafeterias. Visual Markers are placed on the floor for social distancing purposes. Masks will be required with the exception of eating. Breakfast and lunch options will be plated by cafeteria staff. Students will be allowed to select individually pre-packaged food. Students will not throw trash away until the end of lunch. Tables will be sanitized before and after a class.
We will be running 2 lines. One in which students will purchase their meals and one where snacks can be purchased. Students will stand on the visual markers while waiting in line.
Students will be allowed to get seconds or additional snacks 15 minutes into their lunch period to minimize the number of students getting out of their seats.
Each student will use a badge linked to their lunch account and will not be required to use a pen pad to type in their lunch number ensuring a contactless transaction.
Masks: Students will wear a mask from the classroom to the cafeteria. Students will continue to wear their masks until they are seated at their designated table/spot. Students must wear a mask while going through the cafeteria line if they choose to buy lunch. Once seated, students may remove masks only while eating. When students stand up to exit the cafeteria, they will put their mask back on before getting in line.
