A reminder from our School Health Tech, Ms. Stephanie
Hello PV Parents,
We have seen an uptick in colds/flu lately, so we wanted to send a gentle reminder. If your child has any complaints of any symptoms, please keep them at home and notify our attendance. The number for the attendance line is 858-538-0437. Please include your student’s: name, grade, teacher, and *reason for absence (this is the most important piece of information next to your student’s name).
Any student that comes to the health office and presents with symptoms will be sent home as we are trying our best to prevent any spread to the rest of our school community.
If your student is home or is sent home due to symptoms, we ask that they please test for Covid (you may share the results with me via email: firstname.lastname@example.org ) and stay home until symptoms are significantly improved. If you bring your student to see a doctor, please provide us with the doctor’s note.
We appreciate your understanding and commitment to a healthy campus for all our Penguins.
WHO NEEDS CANDY?
Get rid of those cavities and donate your candy to a great cause! Send all of your candy to the office after Halloween to support the Troops and PVES.
Picnic With Penguins & Ice Cream Social
“Picnic with Penguins” is sponsored by D.A.D.S (more on the D.A.D.S. Group below) and is an opportunity for all parents to come enjoy lunch with their student on campus. Some parents bring lunches from nearby restaurants and some bring in lunches made at home. If you're running late you can always get a school lunch for free! Feel free to hang out with your child while they eat lunch and use it as a great opportunity to take a break from your day to spend quality time with your children, and meet other parents.
TK & 4th & 5th from 11:40pm - 12:20pm
2nd & 3rd from 12:20p - 1:00pm
K & 1st from 1:00p-1:40pm
1. There will be many adults visiting campus. All Adults are required to sign in at the front gate. Do not go through the front office and there is no need to sign out to leave campus
2. Please comply with all traffic and parking regulations on and adjacent to campus. Absolutely NO PARKING allowed in the school parking lot as this is for staff only.
3. Please do not take food onto the playground areas, and please dispose of all trash properly.
D.A.D.S. Group, the acronym stands for Dedicated And Determined Support is a group of (mostly, but not exclusively) fathers who want to make a positive impact on our children's school and school experience. In addition to organizing Picnic with Penguins, the D.A.D.S. Group sponsors and supports several school events throughout the year and engaged in many campus maintenance and improvement projects over the years.

CALIFORNIA HEALTHY KIDS SURVEY:
Park Village Elementary and the Poway Unified School District are conducting a survey of parents as part of our school and district continuous improvement process. We value parent input greatly and appreciate your participation in the short survey found at the link below. The survey answers should be specific to our school site. If you have students at more than one school, you will need to do a separate survey for that school using that school’s link.
The Parent survey is aligned with the state mandated California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) given to students in grades 5, 7, 9 and 11, and the individual site Staff Survey also to be conducted this month. We will be using these student, staff, and parent surveys to gain a better understanding of our parents’ view of our schools and how we can best support our students. All of the survey results will be used as part of our state required Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). For further information on the California Healthy Kids Survey, click this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1o5_VU9_L6_keUVvELx8W1h0_6LXG_5W8/view?usp=sharing
The survey link will be active through November 18th, 2022.
Thank you for your assistance.
Please click on the link below and you will be taken directly to your school’s survey.

FREE OR REDUCED-PRICE MEALS APPLICATION
IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT FREE AND REDUCED MEALS
Although school meals are now free to all students under California’s new Universal Meals Program, the application for free and reduced-price meals is still very important. School funding depends in part on the number of students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals. With all students now eating for free, fewer families are completing the application and schools are at risk of losing funds. Household income information is confidential and applying online is quick and easy. Plus, students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals may also qualify for discounts on transportation, ESS, SAT and AP tests, home internet, and college application fees. Apply online at MySchoolApps.com, or pick up a paper application in the school office.
