GCISD Employees of the Year

On Thursday and Friday, the GCISD prize patrol went around the district to honor distinguished employees. Three of the honored employees work with our BES Texans!

  • Congratulations to Ms. Dee for being named Nutrition Services Employee of the Year! Ms. Dee, our outstanding cafeteria manager, fills our bellies with nutritious food and our hearts with smiles!
  • Congratulations to Mr. Devin for being named Extended Care Services Employee of the Year! Mr. Devin works each morning and afternoon providing our KIDZU students with a safe and fun environment.
  • Congratulations to Mrs. Lewis for being named Transportation Services Employee of the Year! Mrs. Lewis greets our Texans each morning and afternoon with a giant smile as they enter the monkey bus. She has a heart for BES, driving our students to and from school for over 17 years!

We have wonderful staff at Bransford and it is a joy to see them honored in this very special way! To see the list of all of those honored in GCISD, click here.

KC Club Food Drive

Feed Our Kids is an organization connected with GRACE that provides lunch for kids during the summer. Some people may not realize that many kids depend on school to feed them lunch. When summer arrives some of these kids don't have an opportunity to eat lunch. The Feed Our Kids organization provides free lunch for kids in need during the summer months. Our Bransford Elementary PTA will be packing lunches to feed these kids on August 8, 2016. KC Club is collecting non perishable food items to fill these lunches. The grade level that collects the most food will receive EXTRA recess!

Items Needed: Jars of Peanut Butter and Jelly, Individual bags of crackers, cookies, and chips, fruit cups, water bottles, and juice boxes.

SHAC: GCISD School Health Advisory Council

The State of Texas mandates that each school district have a School Health Advisory Council (SHAC). SHAC assists the district in ensuring that local community values are reflected in the implementation of a coordinated health program including health education, physical education, health services, nutrition services, counseling, healthy school environment, staff health promotion and family/community involvement. SHAC is in need of dedicated members for the 2016-2017 school year. If you are interested in joining the SHAC, please complete the application found here.

Field Day 2016

The B.E.S.T. field day is finally here and the excitement is building. The 2016 B.E.S.T. Field Day will be held on Friday, May 20. Monday May 23is the rain make-up date. We will be utilizing Colleyville City Park for this event.

Field Day preparation and activities will begin promptly at 7:45 a.m. If your child is tardy he/she must be checked in through the school office. The office personnel will direct the parent and child with regards to where the child may join his/her class. If your child is tardy DO NOT drop him/her off at the Colleyville City Park, you must first report to the school office to insure proper supervision of your child.

All classes will be walking to the park with a police escort. We will begin with fifth graders leaving the building at 8:05 and then continue leaving by class at approx. 5 min. intervals (4th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st, and K). The first Field Day event is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.

The Kindergarten and 1st Grade classes will conclude their events in the morning and will be returning to Bransford with teacher and police escort at 10:45 and 11:15 respectively.

The lunch break for the day will run from 10:45-11:15 for all classes K-5. Kindergarten will eat at the school. All 1st -5th graders will be eating with their homeroom classes at City Park. Students need to bring a disposable sack lunch and drink from home. If your child forgets his/her lunch we will attempt to contact you. If we are unable to contact you, the school cafeteria will provide a sack lunch and water for your child. No adult/parent lunches will be available through the school cafeteria. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO LEAVE THE SCHOOL OR CITY PARK FOR LUNCH.

Each grade level will complete their Field Day activities at the times listed on the following schedule:

Kindergarten = 10:45

1st grade = 11:15

2nd grade = 12:15

3rd grade = 12:45

4th grade = 1:15

5th grade = 1:30

Upon completion of the Field Day events the classes will return to campus along with their teachers and police escort. Restful, educational activities are planned for the remainder of the school day.

If you need to check your child out of school before the regular dismissal time, you may do so by completing the following checkout procedure.

  1. Inform the homeroom teacher in person.

  2. When ready to leave, check your child out through the school office OR the checkout center at City Park.

  3. Make sure that you sign the checkout roster in the school office or at the park.

  4. Return the signed blue checkout slip to your child's homeroom teacher when you are ready to leave the building or the park.

In order to insure student safety:

If you check your child out early and return to City Park to watch an event or for any other reason your child MUST remain with you at all times. The Kidsville Park will not be available for independent play. The Kidsville park area has been reserved and each grade level will be assigned a specific playtime. Please do not bring dogs to the park during this event.

Parking during Field Day will be limited to the Bransford Elementary lot and designated areas at City Park. Any parking in undesignated areas will result in ticketing by the Colleyville Police Department.

We are all looking forward to a fun day of activities, physical development and the opportunity to learn about healthy competition and sportsmanship. The activities have all been designed to be developmentally appropriate and with specific curricular objectives in mind. The teachers have been carefully trained with regard to the events that they will be facilitating. All teachers are committed to creating safe and fair events for all participants. There will be a nurse located at City Park who can assist with any medical concerns that occur during the day. Thank you for your support in advance. We look forward to working with you to create a safe, exciting and memorable day for all of our students.

Field Day Food

Students may only order lunch and Bahama Bucks snow cones by sending in the pre-order form, but additional items will be available at the Field Day concession stand for $1 each. The concession stand will be cash only.

We are unable to sell Bahama Bucks snow cones the day of the event due to City of Colleyville guidelines for third party vendors, so please make sure to pre-order if your child would like a snow cone.

Elementary Electives

In the fall of 2015, the district solicited parent, staff and community member feedback through a new engagement tool, ThoughtExchange. Upon reviewing the feedback the district received, it became apparent that our elementary parents were interested in adding extracurricular activities to the school day. Unfortunately, due to the elements that must be taught through the state mandated curriculum, and the restrictions by the state for our school day, we are not able to add extracurriculars as part of our every day life at Bransford Elementary. In order to meet the needs of our families the district is looking at offering some extracurricular activities after school for a fee. If you are interested in possibly participating in this after-school offering, please take this brief survey to provide us with your feedback on course offerings and schedule.
