Mustangs in the Middle: 9-13-19
updates you must make - complete by sept. 15
Online "Information Update" for the 19-20 school year is now available! This must be completed by September 15. The Information Update form must be completed prior to your child receiving report cards, transcripts, parking permits, participation in any extra-curricular activities, school dances and field trips, as well as participation in commencement activities. You will use the NEW PowerSchool UNIFIED CLASSROOM (formerly referred to as PASS) to access the 2019-2020 form. Even though the forms are "pre-filled" please check all information and you have to submit for each form and you must do it for each child that you have in the system even if all the information remains the same.
It is vital that you update ALL information in this site, including up to date phone numbers for emergency contact and the form regarding photos. Please be advised that if you check "no release of info" this means your child will not be included in class photos or the yearbook. We'd love for all of our students to be included in school photos, so please compete this form carefully.
How do I get started?
Visit the Strongsville City Schools Website and click on the Powerschool Unified Classroom icon in the upper right corner and log into your UNIFIED CLASSROOM Parent Portal account
- Select the student you wish to register along the top
- Click on the "Quick Links" icon in the left hand menu
- Choose the Link "2019-2020 Information Update" within the Custom Links section
- Enter the birth date for the selected student
- Complete the form and submit.
I can’t remember my login for the PowerSchool Unified Classroom Parent Portal.
If you aren’t able to retrieve your login credentials using the “Forgot Username or Password” link on the Powerschool Unified Classroom Sign In page, please contact your school directly for assistance logging in to the Unified Classroom Parent Portal.
I don't have a Unified Classroom PowerSchool Parent Portal (PASS) account.
Contact your school directly for instructions on setting up your account, and your credentials.
Do I have to answer all the questions?
Questions marked with a red asterisk (*) are required.
What if I make a mistake?
If you would like to make a change prior to submitting the form, you can either navigate back to the page using the “< Prev” and “Next >” buttons or if you are on the Review page click on the underlined field. If you have already submitted the form you will need to contact your student’s school so they can make the changes for you.
I’ve completed the form, now what?
Once you have finished entering your information click “Submit.” This will send all of the information you’ve entered to the school. If you cannot click on this button you will need to make sure that you have answered all required questions.
What if I have more than one student in the district? Do I need to do this for each child?
Yes you will need to provide information that is specific to each child. We recommend that you complete and submit one form and then start another. This will allow you to “snap” (or share) selected family information, which saves you time.
Help! I’m on the Information Update form and I’m having technical difficulties.
For technical support, visit our PowerSchool Community help center or click “Help” from any form page.
Dress Code
Please be cognizant of your children's attire before sending them out the door. If found in violation, we will be calling and asking that you bring a change of clothing.
We want students to be able to express themselves and be who they are, but we also don't want their dress to be a distraction to others. We will see everything? No. Can it be somewhat subjective? Yes. To try to avoid the subjectivity, we are going to use the general rule (outlined in the student dress code) of shorts or skirts or holes in the pants must be at an appropriate length (mid-thigh or fingertip is a general standard)
Below are some pictures for you reference. Same rules apply for shorts as well.

PSAT
PSAT Information - 8th Grade
The PSAT 8/9 will be administered here at Strongsville Middle School on Wednesday, October 16th at 7:55AM in the main gym. The PSAT 8/9 evaluates the skills students have developed in critical reading, mathematics, and writing, as well as provides tools to students to help them reach their college and career goals. All 8th grade students in Honors Algebra I, Honors Geometry, and/or Honors Language Arts received a letter on Monday, September 9th inviting them to participate in taking the PSAT 8/9. Although not every 8th grader received a PSAT letter, registration for the test is open to all 8th grade students who wish to take the test.
If your child is interested in taking the PSAT 8/9 and has not yet received information to register for the exam, please direct them to stop by the 3rd floor office to pick up a registration form or find an electronic copy here (PSAT 8/9 Registration Form).
The cost to take the PSAT is $12.00. Registration forms and payment are due no later than Monday, September 16th to the 3rd floor office. If you have any questions, please contact the Heather Coblentz (8th Grade Counselor) at hcoblentz@scsmustangs.org.

PTA
SMS PTA in conjunction with Chapman PTA have an opportunity to volunteer at a concession stand at the December 8th Browns game.
This will be an amazing opportunity to have fun and raise money to support the many activities the PTA provides for our our kids. There is a sign up for a handful of volunteers to get alcohol certified, but not all volunteers need to be certified.
Please consider volunteering, and please message me with any questions.
Thank you, Nikky Freeman
