October 2014 Monthly Report
WHHS Library Mission Statement
The mission of the Wade Hampton High School Library is to ensure that students and staff develop critical thinking skills, are effective and ethical users of resources, ideas, and information, and are enthusiastic readers and lifelong learners.
October in the WHHS Library
This month we enjoyed getting to know some of our students better during library orientation and book check out time. Thanks to Ms. Johnson, Mrs. Serina, Mrs. Mitchell, and Ms. Jarriel for bringing their classes in for orientation.
Ms. Gibson's classes were introduced to Easybib and Mr. McAnally's class came in to work on WWII research.
The Science of Zombies
Thanks to the USC School of Medicine Library for sharing their exhibit "The Science of Zombies" with us this month. Read more about zombies on their Libguide.
New Chromebases
The library replaced three desktops with three new Chromebases this month. The Chromebases replaced desktops at the Destiny Quest stations and the student sign in station. These stations only require Internet sites to operate and desktop capabilities were wasted in these areas. Those three desktops were freed up to be used in classrooms and labs. Learn more about Chromebases here.
Additions to the Library Collection
We added 412 items to the library in October! You read that correctly - four hundred twelve! See the full list of purchases here.
Perspectives on Diseases & Disorders: Lou Gehrig's Disease
This book discusses Lou Gehrig's disease, a fatal disease which is amyotrophic lateral sciolisis; controversies over the causes of the disease; and personal narratives of people suffering from ALS.
