Galesburg High School

November Family Newsletter

A Message from Mr. Hawkins

Parents and Guardians,

We want to help create a positive educational experience for OUR students. This all starts with daily attendance at school. We need your help to make sure our students are here at Galesburg High School, on time and ready to learn, at 7:40 a.m. Thank you for your efforts, let's work together.

I wanted to take a moment to highlight student service to the greater Galesburg community. We have many service organizations at Galesburg High School. Currently, our Key Club is raising money to help eradicate many childhood illnesses around the world. Our Student Council recently held a blood drive with the American Red Cross. Their goal was to collect 25 units of blood, their efforts surpassed that goal by collecting 32 units of blood. According to officials at Red Cross, those units have the potential of saving 96 lives. Finally, the Student Council will be hosting a Veterans' Day Breakfast on Friday, November 12. The event will take place in the GHS Commons at 7:00 a.m.

Throughout the year, many other student groups/teams/organizations will continue to provide community service throughout Galesburg. This is something to be proud of at Galesburg High School.

Finally, if you are looking for some entertainment, please come watch our students as they perform their annual Fall Play, Leaving Iowa. Showtimes for this event are Friday, November 19th at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, November 20th at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, November 21st at 2 p.m.

In Silver and Gold,

Mr. Hawkins
