8th Grade Families:
The 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony sub-committee, comprised of administrators, staff, & parents, has been meeting weekly since the committee was formed. Together, we developed a formal plan for the promotion ceremony and shared it with grade team leaders. Individual tasks were delegated to members of the committee in order to make the day special & run smoothly.
The 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 10th during school-hours. Each 8th Grade Team chose a block within the day to celebrate where they will be formally acknowledged as "promoted" by Principal Gomero. Team awards will also be announced during this time and certificates will be administered in their crew class. Block times & viewable links will be forthcoming for parents who will be able to virtually attend via live streaming. The ceremony will be held outdoors to help maintain social distancing, with a rain date of Friday, June 11th. The event will be recorded for families who cannot watch the live event & photos will be taken to capture this special day.
Therefore, we encourage students to dress nicely but it is not a requirement. Remote-learners will have a similar virtual ceremony via Google Meets & their certificates/awards can be picked up or mailed home. We anticipate this event being a wonderful celebration to mark the transition to high school for our 8th graders. Any questions may be directed to Illing Assistant Principal Deryann King. b59dking@mpspride.org

Also in Mrs. Ford's class, the students learned about botanical imprints and how nature can create beautiful cast shapes. The students collected flowers, leaves and tree pieces and then we made a cast out of plaster. The pieces were placed in the plaster, and then the imprint was made. The students embellished the imprint with watercolor.
