HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 2 Week 8 - 16 June
Dear Parents and Guardians,
What a crowd! Than you to everyone who attended our 1 Catherine assembly today. It was a pleasure to see you all there, and to enjoy the performance of Trish Norman’s class – it was a hoot! Thanks very much Trish and the 1C gang!
Next week our 5 Dominic students strut their stuff – we look forward to seeing them in action!
Kindy 2019 interviews continued this week, and will again next week. Again, my sincere appreciation to you all who speak so well of our community. There is no substitute for word of mouth recommendation. It is what is bringing people here. If you are aware of anyone else who has indicated an interest in joining us, please encourage them to get in touch soon.
Have a great weekend.
Mark de Kluyver

SAFETY OF CHILDREN UPDATE - PARKING
We've had some fairly negative feedback from Huntriss Road residents about driveways being blocked, children having to navigate cars on the footpath, and indeed parents being rude to residents when asked to get out of their driveway. With the parking available at Hale Hockey we would ask that those bringing children to school by car are really mindful of the importance of maintaining good relations with our neighbours and not compromising the reputation of the school and its families. Thank you for your support.

THE FAMILY BUSINESSES OF HOLY ROSARY

We are super excited to introduce the families of the businesses behind Holy Rosary. The P&F Committee has put together a Business Directory of school families and encourage everyone to use them. These businesses aim to support the P&F committee in the various projects they undertake.
AMY EATON - HAPPY AS LARRY DESIGNS
GET TO KNOW Amy
What do you do?
I design ethically made homewares for kids and adults who were once kids! By empowering artisans and craftsmen from around the world we endeavor with every stitch to make the world a happier place to call home.
Why Did You Choose Your Profession?
I have always been creative and taught art for many years. Creating and home design has always been a passion and I am so blessed to be able to combine the two in my work. I love that I get to work with amazingly skilled people from around the world that bring my work to life.
What was your favourite age at school and why?
Yr 5 – it is probably the year I can most remember as I was finding my feet, playing sport, riding the neighbourhood and gaining some independence.
What was the last picture you took with your phone?
Selfie with my little man Caleb
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
How do you do what you do! (because really I have no idea how I get everything done)
What is your perfect pizza?
I will eat any kind of pizza but I guess I am still a bit of a big kid because I can’t go past a good Hawaiian.
If you joined the circus what would you perform?
Juggling – in primary school I used to juggle at every opportunity and actually did a bit of clowning.
What was the last book you read?
Chasing Slow by Erin Loechner. It is all about trying to slow down and turn away from the fast frenetic life we live. To take life in and enjoy the journey and undiscovered happiness!
West Coast or Fremantle?
Fremantle (although I really don’t care but my hubby would make sure I said this!)

Being almost half way through the year, the library already has 85 overdue/missing books. The children are learning to care for our books and hopefully most will be returned to the library by next week, after an excellent search at home and school. Any remaining overdues will be issued with invoices in week 10 so that the book can be replaced for other children to read in Term 3. Covering the cost of lost books inhibits the Library’s ability to purchase new, fabulous books. Thank you for your understanding and support of our beautiful library and it’s resources.

Siena Centre Wine Fundraiser
Please support the Siena Centre to purchase some much needed resources.
From time to time specific resources are required for the children to achieve their goals. Special Education resources are usually very costly because there is less of a demand for them. Last year the Siena Centre was able to replace our laminator, we are continually laminating schedules, high interest word cards etc and many other visuals. We thank you for supporting this fundraiser in 2016.
This year we would like to modernise our cause and effect toys as well as our fine motor equipment. A number of our children have complex communication needs, our talking switch devices need to be replaced due to constant use, they give the children who have limited voices to contribute to discussions. Once again this year we will allocate some of the money raised towards reading materials.
The rest of the funds, if there are any left will be put towards a wheel chair swing that is going to be installed at a later time.
Please click HERE for Order form. All orders must be returned by 4pm on Monday 19 June and wine can be collected from outside the Library on Friday 23 June and Monday 26 June between 3:30 and 5:30pm.
