Earthquakes PBL

Driving Question: How can we, as structural engineers, construct a two story house in California for Tony Stark that will withstand seismic activity?

Our Design: We chose Paria Hakemi's design. We believed it was a simple but safe house, one that was well structured. Although, we wanted everybody's idea to be included so we decided to add one part of each person's design to Parias. We decided to do Kristins toothpick idea to support the outer part of the edges of the house, Victoria's idea of sticking the house to the plate, Sophia's idea to put a string around the house to keep it together, and Riyas idea of putting springs on the first floor. Paria's design is three floors but since we were running out of clay we used only two.

Invention Convention

What environmental problem does your invention solve? Our invention will solve the enivoronmental problems pollution and fossil fuels running out. As our invention will use wind and sunlight, it will 100% for sure be renewable and pollutant-free. Since wind and sunlight are free, our invention will have no need to be expensive. Our invention will solve a issue that has been going on for years.

How does your invention solve this problem? Our invention works to solve this problem by using solar energy and wind turbines. Solar energy comes from the sun, therefore no pollution will happen. Wind turbines also have no pollution and use no fossil fuels. Our invention also uses renewable sources. The mini wind turbines are connected to the trains electric panel.
