CCR Travel day means....
Phase 1 of the Get Better Faster Rubric
In our observations so far, throughout the building we have observed the following about PHASE 1:
Glows:
1. Strong voice/formal register (including teacher's tone and word choice when giving instruction)
2. Square up (teacher stops moving and strikes a formal pose when speaking to the class)
3. Learning Targets and Success Criteria are posted in nearly all classrooms
Grows:
1. Posting of lesson plans (including all non-negotiables-see last week's newsletter) by 8am the Thursday prior to the teaching week
- Please seek help from Jackie W. if you need tech help with Planbook
- Please send an email to your evaluator by 8am Thursday if your plans will be late
2. Identify a designated "teaching spot" in your room where whole class instruction happens consistently.
PHASE 2: Thank you for the conversations in PLCs on Friday around Phase 2 of the GBF.
We will continue to focus on phase 2 and the impact on our planning in PLCs for the next week or so. As you build your lesson plans, rely on this document to consider your instructional moves around independent practice as well as aggressive monitoring.
Over the next 10 days, admin/coach observations will be for the purpose of capturing evidence of Rigor Phase 2 teacher moves in the classroom.
On deck for DUTY this week...
AM: Patterman, White, Legnard, Moreno, Rademacher, Raimonde
PM: Somers, Mebust, Clausen, Lane, Palmisano
Please remember to report to your post (see schedule) on time (AM 8-8:15) (PM 3:45-4PM).
If you are unable to report, please find a colleague to cover for you.
CCR Grading...updated after teacher feedback
1. Your gradebook for CCR should be set to the pass/fail setting as the "Grading Curve."
2. Create one assignment each week that is worth 25 points (5 points per day of the week).
DAILY Points are earned as follows...
+1 for being on time
+2 for wearing ID (+1 if wearing an orange sticker)
+2 completion of daily classwork (or +1 if some, but not all work is completed)
-------
5 points possible daily
3. We recommend a class roster on a clipboard where you can easily and quickly log points earned/lost.
Students should also be able to make up classwork missed in order to earn the points for the day. This way, a student can always work their way out of a negative grade if they choose to.
Hot Topics...
Google Hangout Chats... We are noticing that there are some inconsistencies in chats reaching administration. In order to avoid this please be sure that you either 1. send chats from your cell using the chat app or 2. open a new browser window and open chat to send a message on your computer. This seems to be the only way to ensure that admin are getting your chats on our cell phones. This is important because we are not often sitting in front of our computers.
The names of admin, security, and coach to include in your chat group:
Steven Heit (security)
Bryan Daldegan (security)
Marquise Evans (security)
Rhy Robinson
Cynthia Chick
Annessa Hart
Erin Stovall
A Unified Front... Thank you for making sure that any student without an ID goes to the office via a pass from you. Students who are consistently without an ID have the opportunity to have a special appointment with an administrator to call home and loop parents in on this persisting issue. If you have a student that is chronically without their ID/or orange sticker on above the waist when they enter your classroom, please feel free to email an administrator with the student name.
If a student is a no show to your class...but has been marked present earlier in the day, please chat admin/security immediately to alert them that a student is a no show. The student may be in an office for some reason, but also may be skipping class. It is essential that we know they are missing from your class so that we can determine which is the case.
Co-teachers...Please be sure that co teachers have full access to class lesson plans as well as google classroom so that they can fully support learning as needed.

Scores Un-embargoed...As of Tuesday, 9/3, scores can be discussed with students and/or their parents.
ISS work... When a student is assigned ISS for the next day, you will receive an email letting you know that we will need assignments dropped off for that student at the beginning of the day they will serve the ISS. Students in ISS are required to complete at least one full assignment each class period that they are in the office. If a student needs your support with the work, we may ask you to stop by for a quick check in on one of your plan periods. Our intention is to keep the student on track so that the burden of catching them up does not fall on you upon their return to class. Please let us know if you have questions or concerns.
At your door during passing...whenever possible, please be in your doorway during each passing period. If your students line up outside your door, please be sure that they are under your supervision.
Pirate Booty...Thursdays during CCR. Please follow the below schedule when dismissing students to the Booty. Students must have at least 5 signatures on their CREW card in order to visit the store. An easy way to remember to sign CREW Cards is to ask your students to put them our on their desk at the beginning of each class. Remember that this is a great way to encourage/celebrate positive CREW behavior.
