Grace?
Graphic Novel: Measuring Up by Lily LaMotte and Ann Xu
In this full-color graphic novel, Cici wants to win an exciting cooking competition so her Āmā can come visit! I love how her experience as a Taiwanese immigrant is integrated into the story and now I want to cook some of that tasty-looking food. This book was also recently announced as an OBOB book for next year!
Fiction: Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper
Melody has a photographic memory and is the smartest girl in her school, but no one knows it because she has cerebral palsy, which is a condition that affects her body but not her mind. What will happen when she gets a device that allows her to communicate? Will other people think of her differently? This book is beautifully written and if you’re a fan of trivia like me, you’ll be a fan of Melody!
Young Readers: Ty’s Travels: All Aboard! by Kelly Starling Lyons
Ty has a great imagination and loves to play! When his family is busy, he thinks of his own ideas. This series has a lot of repetition, which is great for new readers practicing words and letter sounds.
What are you reading right now? Let Ms. Grace know at kruegerg@loswego.k12.or.us.
Dile a Ms. Grace a kruegerg@loswego.k12.or.us.
