Class of 2025

Save the date and other important info!

Hello Class of 2025!

It's hard to believe that the scheduling season for the 2021-2022 school year is upon us. I wanted to share some important information on upcoming events and the scheduling timeline. My name is Lauren Clark and I'm the Director of School Counseling at Wachusett Regional High School. I'll be here to help 8th grade families through the process.

Much of the information below will be shared in more detail, through more emails and events, in the upcoming months. My goal for developing this particular newsletter is for families to save the date on March 4th (more details below)... and to inform families of the scheduling process for freshmen year. Though there may be some unknowns for next year, the high school is eager to get the scheduling process started!

8th Grade Curriculum Night!

Families of 8th graders are invited to a virtual presentation on March 4th at 6:00pm! The presentation will feature Administrators and Department Heads who will be discussing what the academic experience at Wachusett is like. We will also be reviewing the differences between CP, CPA, Honors, and AP levels; what a typical freshman schedule may look like; what electives are available; how to pick courses for next year in Powerschool; and other important academic topics.

Other important info that will be discussed in the future:

Scheduling Timeline: Please view this document with important information on the scheduling timeline. Please do not get overwhelmed by this document as it includes the scheduling timeline for the entire high school. We will be discussing this document in more detail during the 8th grade Curriculum Night on March 4th.

Educational Guide: This is a rather lengthy document however it gives students insight into what classes may be offered for the 2021-2022 school year. The graduation requirements are reviewed along with the various courses and the description of each course. Every year during the scheduling season, students will be using the Ed Guide as a resource.

Incoming freshmen website: This website will be updated with important information for 8th grade families!

WRHS Performing Groups: This document explains the Music Department's course selection and audition information.

8th Grade Survey: This survey will be sent out in late March/early April and is for students to fill out only if a student WILL NOT be attending WRHS in the fall.

Please save your questions until after the March 4th event, as we know that curriculum night will answer many of them! If you are unable to attend; we will be recording the presentation and posting it on the "incoming freshmen" website.

We look forward to seeing you virtually on March 4th!
