Concert Uniform Fitting January 21

Parent Volunteers Needed to Help with Concert Uniform Fitting January 21
Parents, we need your help fitting Woodwinds, Brass and Percussion students for Spring Concert Uniforms. We will have volunteer time slots for Saturday the 21st from 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. We will have different stations set up to get them fitted, pinned and then scanned into our database. Everyone who signs up for the whole day will be provided lunch by the Band Boosters. Thank you for your support!
UPDATE! Concert Uniform Fitting for ALL Woodwind, Brass & Percussion Students
Additional Days for Returning Students to Get Fitted for Their Concert Uniforms
Thanks to our awesome parent volunteers we have been able to pull the concert uniforms for our returning students that they wore last year and may still have the hem on the dress or pants they used!
Returning Students Only, may come in after school on Tuesday, January 17th or Thursday, January 19th from 5:00 to 8:00 to try on their concert uniforms, check them out, and take them home. Parents are responsible for hemming! (see hemming notes below)
If you have a NEW band student or have a returning band student that can't come in on Tuesday or Thursday, please sign up for a fitting time slot for Saturday, January 21st.
**Any band student that made Region Band and has already been fitted for their concert uniform does not need to sign up for a fitting.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Michelle Florez at vpsupport@johnsonbands.com.
Reminder: We will not have a photographer available for pictures.
FITTINGS: Fittings are first come, first serve. With such a fast growing program, it may be that we run out of the size needed for your student and have to utilize what is in inventory. For students who do not sign up, there will not be a "make up day". We realize that emergencies happen. If you will be unable to be fitted on that day, you must contact Michelle Florez at vpsupport@johnsonbands.com as soon as possible.
HEMMING AT HOME: Once fitted and assigned, uniforms will be taken home for parents to hem or make arrangements for the hemming of pants and dresses.
Hemming Rules:
- Please make sure to have students wear the appropriate shoes when pinning
- Hemming tape is not allowed
- Material may NOT be cut once hemmed.
We realize that the hemming of DRESSES can prove difficult and encourage parents to take those to a seamstress if you cannot do it yourself. If you need assistance with addressing the hemming of a dress, please contact Michelle Florez at vpsupport@johnsonbands.comas soon as possible.
Per Mr. Lucita, uniforms are to be kept at home until Pre-UIL on March 1. On March 1, band students will not report to school but will instead be required to report to the PAC early that morning in uniform. Directors will send out more information about UIL-related events at a later time.

Parent Volunteers Needed for Pre-UIL & UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Contest in MARCH
The JHS Band will be hosting High School Pre-UIL Concert & Sight-Reading at the PAC on Wednesday, March 1 and Thursday, March 2 and UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Competition at the PAC on Tuesday, March 28 and Wednesday, March 29.
Mr. Lucita has asked for a few volunteers to help throughout the day to set up the stage, help in the warm-up and sightreading rooms. Occasionally, they will need one volunteer to help Tracye in the UIL office at the PAC.
Please know that times may change, and Mr. Lucita will update as soon as he has the information.

From the Director
First things first, we want to acknowledge and thank our awesome parents. There was a workday this past Saturday with an awesome turnout and incredible effort from our wonderful parents. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for all you do!
Here we go with a slightly shorter week considering we just had an extended weekend. This week we can look forward to a regular schedule where classes and after school rehearsals are concerned. Please see the calendar. However we do want to put on the parent radar that the weekly Wind Ensemble after school rehearsals will start this coming Monday from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. The students in Wind Ensemble are also compiling their top three choices for sectionals which will start soon.
We have an update on the upcoming Disney trip. The ability to add to the trip has now passed, and airline tickets have been purchased. Also, the penalty for dropping the trip has reached the 75% of the cost not refundable point. Any financial matters associated with the trip will be handled by the travel company, Perform America Texas. We are also excited to announce that we were able to add a day at a Disney park the day we arrive at zero additional cost!! We do not know which park on which day exactly, but we do know that our first two days we will visit Animal Kingdom and Epcot. The 3rd and 4th days will be Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom (again don’t know which park on which day) and the last day of parks will be Universal Studios. We will know definitively which day for which park this week as the travel company will make our park reservations for the tickets. Due to logistics and student safety we will not be hopping parks during the day. We will have a mandatory trip meeting in February where we will cover all details, schedules, flights, rules, etc. We do want to make sure everyone is aware that we are packing for this trip using carry-on luggage. We will not be checking bags or going to baggage claim. This is similar to how we packed for Hawaii.
Welcome back and let’s have a wonderful week!!! Today and everyday “it’s a great day to be a Jaguar”!
