Back to School Night
Parents enjoyed coming to the cafeteria during lunch periods to sample what our cafeteria has to offer. It looked a bit like Costco on a Saturday! :) Check out a few snapshots from the evening.
Library Design Contest
If you have not been to the Dwyer library and media center, I invite you to check it out! We have mobile furniture, Chromebooks, casual seating areas, and team hubs for students to collaborate around a flat-screen. Oh, there are plenty of books too. Lots of learning happens here!
Mr. Lomeli, our Library Media Tech, is starting a monthly contest for students. Students can submit a re-design of the furniture layout for the month. Submissions are due the 1st of every month, a winner will be chosen, and that student's set-up will be arranged for the entire month.
What a great way to get students excited about their learning spaces and see the change that they create!
Our first spirit day of the year - Pajama Day - was a lot of fun! Many students participated to show their Dwyer pride.
A huge thank you to all the PTSA volunteers that spent hours redoing every bulletin board in the school. Teachers will now be able to display all the hard work that their students complete.

Fishing in the City
Today Ms. Wood and Ms. Hovenden took a group of Jr. Oilers fishing at Carr Park. The trip was hosted by Huntington Beach Police and students learned to bait and hook from officers and Fish and Wildlife volunteers. A few students caught catfish over 3 pounds and others took home prizes. For many, it was their first fishing experience. It was a fun day had by all!
