A Message from the Administrative Team
Hi WJHS Families,
We are excited for Curriculum Night! This is a virtual opportunity for parents to visit the school, learn about the classroom from your child’s teachers, and learn about the curriculum and new initiatives for the school.
Homeroom teachers will be hosting a 20 minute webinar-style presentation for parents, and Creative Arts, World Language, PE, and LBS staff will be hosting 10 minute sessions for parents to engage in learning more about WJHS. Prior to Virtual Curriculum Night beginning at 6:00 PM, Instrumental Music and Accelerated Math will host sessions between 5:30 - 6:00 PM.
Instrumental Music will host two sessions:
7th grade - 5:30 - 5:40 PM
8th grade - 5:45 - 5:55 PM
Accelerated Math will hold two sessions:
8th grade - 5:30 - 5:40 PM
7th grade - 5:45 - 5:55 PM
Curriculum Night is from 6:00 - 7:00 PM. Seventh grade teams will meet with parents from 6 - 6:30, and eighth grade teams will meet with parents from 6:30 - 7:00. In the half hour that you are not meeting with your child's team teachers, you will have an opportunity to join a Zoom with your child's Physical Education, World Language, Creative Arts and/or Academic Strategies teachers.
DSTs, Student Services, and Library/Tech will share a pre-recorded video.
We look forward to seeing you virtually on September 14!
Sincerely,
Kate Dominique, Principal

A few reminders:
The WJHS staff/teacher gift fund is pooled together and gifted equally to all WJHS staff before holiday break.

The District does NOT pay for these activities, WJHS parents do!

We are grateful for all of your insight and input throughout this process. As we near the finish line, we ask for your final review and feedback. Today is the deadline to complete this short survey.

Lunch Protocols
A reminder that District 39 has instituted several mitigation measures to continue to promote health and safety during lunch time. Lunch will be held outdoors whenever possible. On days when that is not an option, indoor lunch locations are assigned, including supervised lunch in the cafeteria, gymnasiums, classrooms and other common spaces, and homeroom class cohorts are maintained. When lunch is indoors, students maintain proper distancing of at least three feet (six feet where possible) and masking when finished eating.
Helpful Resources
The D39 Back-to-School page provides helpful resources to families, including FAQs, the D39 Response to Illness Booklet, the D39 COVID Metrics page and more.
Vaccination Information
District 39 continues to invite students to voluntarily submit vaccination status information. Providing proof of vaccination is not required; however, those without a record of vaccination on file will be required to follow the health protocols for unvaccinated individuals. Vaccination status information should be uploaded via the Power School Parent Portal.
