Owens Intermediate School raised more than $1,276 for Pennies for Patients.
The school exceeded its target goal of $750. The fundraiser benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Killough Middle School was named a Project Lead the Way Gateway Showcase School.

Cadre Kerr theatre will be inducting various thespians for the 2018-2019 school year:
- 38 students into the International Thespian Honor Society – 100 hours and 2 shows
- 20 Honor Thespians – 600 hours
- 4 National Honor Thespians – 1200 hours
- 1 International Honor Thespian – 1800 hours (Chayanne Cabrales, who is also a vice Presidential Scholar)
- 4 Graduating Thespian Vice Presidential Scholars – 3.5 or above GPA
- 14 Graduating Presidential Scholars – 4.0 or above GPA
- 2 Thespian Scholars – 3.0 or above GPA
Congratulations to this year's Alief ISD Fund for Teachers fellows!
Best Elementary Teacher Elizabeth Ross will learn best practices in inclusive education at the International Association of Special Education in Tanzania and will tour programs and schools focusing on inclusion.
Outley Elementary School librarian Khytt Lawrey and Albright Middle School teacher Adriana Hernandez will explore Leonardo da Vinci's life throughout France to tap into his way of thinking, creativity and legacy to further student learning.
