A note from the Principal
Hello everyone, I cannot believe how quickly the weeks are flying by. The focus this term by all staff has been on school pride. It has been terrific to see more and more students coming to school in the correct school uniform. We thought that it would be nice to have some of our students model the correct uniform for you. They look very smart and are also very proud of how they look.
I have however noticed that some of our girls are wearing dangling earrings, necklaces and bracelets. These can be quite dangerous when playing in the playground so are best left for wearing outside of school. Also it is important to note that schools are breeding grounds for head lice – it is always best if students with longer hair have it tied up.
We would also like to announce our Community Pantry. This is located outside the canteen next to the hall. This is for our school community to use, this has been set up by Minnnel Longhurst (Vice President of School Council). If you have a need please help yourself and if you have extra feel free to donate.
As a staff we have decided to revamp our class awards. From next week all of our awards will be tied into our school values of respect, community, confidence and learning. We are also introducing a school pride award for students and or whole classes that are consistently demonstrating school pride. This may be through how they conduct themselves outside, keep their classroom, wear their uniform and the pride shown in their work books. Our school captains will be going around to all classrooms to decide which class is the most deserving of this award. Lastly we are also introducing a principal’s award for students who consistently demonstrate our values. I would like to thank our captains for creating these new awards and I look forward to presenting them to our students next week.
On Tuesday I was at the PACH meeting and it was lovely to meet so many enthusiastic parents. There are a number of exciting community events in the pipe line. If you would like join us and share your ideas please come along to our next meeting on 3rd September in the staff room. I am looking forward to the colour run in November.
Regards,
Tracey Robertson-Smith

EXCITING OPPORTUNITY - COMBINED SCHOOLS CHOIR IN HEALESVILLE
Attention all lovers of singing and culture…..
Healesville Primary School has been invited to participate in a special concert to celebrate the Year of Indigenous Language and Culture.
Catherine Nolan is bringing together all the schools in Healesville as well as her own Yingi Choir to sing in a concert she has created to celebrate our local indigenous language and culture. Healesville Primary school choir is participating and we invite everyone to come along, support them and enjoy an afternoon of beautiful music.
The concert is to be held on Sunday 11 August at 2.00 – 3.00pm in Memo Hall. Tickets are free for children and $10 for adults at the door.
Students involved in singing are rehearsing on Wednesdays (and a couple of Mondays) at school during lunch time in the performing arts room in preparation for the concert. There will be a notice going home for participating students with further details.
